KLM flight 577 was a routine flight from Big rock international to Lakewood international. On takeoff, the 747 had a small compressor stall, shutting down that engine. Shortly after another engine failed, and the pilots started to turn back toward the airport. As they turned back a passenger panicked and grabbed the emergency parachute. He opened the door and leaped out. This caused decompression and the center fuel tank to explode when door hit it. The passenger body went into another engine, causing it to fail as well. With only 1 working engine, the 747 couldn’t make it all the way back. The pilots aimed for mountain city regional airport. But the runway was too short for the large 747 and it overan. The plane hit trees and spun around and the fuselage hung over the ocean. Off the 408 people aboard, 137 people died.
