I cannot believe so much time has passed. I got hooked up to this channel 13 years ago, as a teenager with a newfound interest in aviation. The moment I watched this video, I put Almaty on my wishlist. Almost a decade and a half later, my dream will come true as I visit ALA for a week. All credit goes to SuredT for uploading these fabulous videos. The era of 2010-15 will be priceless and memorable for me. Wherever you are, I hope you’re doing well.

I think I like this video more than any other. As a passenger, its great to know how many systems the crew has at their disposal to make a safe landing, even in poor visibility conditions. Excellent video. Keep them coming, Captain. Thank you.

Hi, SuredT Thanks for taking a video of a such exciting landing Almaty, KZ. I'm from Almaty and I was just searching for an online info about it and stumbled upon such a heavenly good video. And it makes me glad that I was born here. Your video was made in early March and we often have a snow at that time. Best wishes for your further thrilling landing videos! I will try to keep track on them from now on.

As i said in another video, i´m just a gamer. have about a year playing FSX.... I definitely improve Jets landings after i flew a few times on the 737-700. Haven´t had the chance to be on a 747-700, but your videos can make the difference. My best wishes for you, as a captain you make an extraordinary job, and for sure, is noticeable you enjoy this day by day.

@Gonardia2nd15 жыл бұрын
Not on this occasion, the autopilot is deactivated about 15 sec before touchdown (deep computer warning sound). Also you see the aircraft drift to the left, and correct, after the deactivation. Almost all planes are manual for takeoff. Most modern commercial planes can land automatically (all Boeing and Airbus). There is a weather threshold when pilots cannot land manually; because they cannot see the runway. Awesome landing! You can fly me anywhere.

That is one narrow ass runway! Great video, many thanks!

Beautiful video!! Thanks again SuredT. As a passenger, i am sometimes scared when the aircraft breaks through the bottom of the clouds and we are only a few hundred meters above ground!!
@caillinbathern16 жыл бұрын
it is autopiot controled up until the loud siren from the cockpit. that was the autopilot disconnecting just before the minimus for the approach. According to the vid, the aircraft was set up to take the entire landing right up until the plane was on the ground and turning onto a taxiway :)
@formontor14 жыл бұрын

@SuredT14 жыл бұрын
@UTubeLightBulb No, with ILS autoland it is really autoland. We disconnect the autopilot at taxi speed when we want to turn off the runway.

Soepkipje94 comment is correct, however, this is a dialed in altitude set for decision height. It varies with type of approach and terrain. The altitude is read from the radar altimeter, which is altitude above the ground. And for trivia, the DH is normally set to what's required on the approach + 50 ft.
@bigboobtuber16 жыл бұрын
You have to trust the instruments through that soup, but you at least you know it is smooth air. SuredT, you have good cockpit videos. Share all of them. They are quality and interesting.
@SuredT14 жыл бұрын
@hayesj23 Good observation! Actually when the touchdown would take place after the last Touchdown zone markers (not piano keys), we have to make a go-around.
@Apollo0150414 жыл бұрын
Depending on the model of the Flight Director (autopilot) it can take the aircraft down to the runway flying the ILS, land the aircraft, and throttle back, all the pilot has to do in apply the brakes. In answer to the other question, "no" the autopilot does not need to be disengaged to reroute to another firld. Simply change your waypoints and course heading in the flight computer and you can fly using the "STAR" approach or direct.

You're vids getting better each time, nice to see that you also fly the F version besides the pax (right?) Mooi gedaan weer man :D!

Perfect landing, don't forget there is 200 feet of airplane behind the point of view of the camera!!
@SuredT16 жыл бұрын
Commercial airliners fly only on IFR flightplans. That doesn't mean we are never VFR, but we are not allowed to cancel the IFR flightplan and proceed VFR to reach an airport without instrument appr systems. We only can proceed on a visual approach, but still in an IFR controlled environment.

When we land from the east we can do it, because the apron is at the west side of the airport. Groundspeed is higher because of higher true airspeed because Almaty is at 2500ft or so. We always have flaps 20 at T/O.

Approach pitch angle with Flaps30 is 2 à 2,5 degrees. Only 2 degrees more is needed to flare a 747.
