The way the men treated Andria was disgraceful. She's a badass, and I want to be her friend.
@VanderlyndenJengold15 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think this too, but it's TV, it may have been scripted to cause interest to us, the viewer. Can't they hunt, fish fir extra food? I bet there was more around back then though.
@thereissomecoolstuff5 ай бұрын
Andrea was great. To share her gold after the way she was treated was not period correct. When they cut her out, she would have done the same. Good for you. Was just up there on a cruise. The scale is something you have to see to really appreciate what the miners went through.

So let me get this right: they promised her to get the machine to Klondike, and they abandoned it. And she helped, cooked, etc, and got nothing. At least they should have reimburst the sewing machine. This is worth more than her weight in gold.

Right? Because having clothes that don't fall off wouldn't help you survive the cold at all (sarcasm). Yet they still took the camera. Reactions in that period were mixed, but on a trek like this an expensive camera is more of a liability than an asset compared to the sewing machine.
@expressthat25 ай бұрын
@@ThisMessageWillSelfDestructthey still had needles and thread, the camera hardly the burden to carry the sewing machine is and to be fair she had the option to bring it if she was willing to haul it.

Wow, they leave her machine behind despite promising to take it. And now cut her out? Their excuses stink. Bastards. Every hardship the men had after that was deserved. Felt zero sympathy for them. Amazingly, she worried about them and then shared her gold with them afterwards. They didn't deserve her friendship.

It's TV! Have you ever seen it made? It has produced an emotional reaction in you, that's probably what it's for. I hope so anyway, cuz it's just plain rude to treat a person like that, if she's done nothing to deserve it.

I am Canadian, I’m 90% sure I could survive in the Yukon
@bethbartlett56925 ай бұрын
I'm an Irish American, the only way I could survive in the Yukon would be in this era, with the amenities of electricity, water, housing, food store, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, a driver, pilot, a staff of friends with the same, communication device, some entertainment tech, a physician, several cases of Irish Whiskey, Single Malt Scotch, Good Wine, Dark Chocolate, and a flight plan to the Southern USA. It is a most undesirable climate there, and my strengths are not in the outdoors. ❄️🌨️⛄

At the time of year that they’re there, yes, but during the winter… it’s not so bad on the warmer winter days, but when it drops down to -30 to -50, better hope that you have lots of firewood to burn and a place to hunker down. You also need to have enough food stocked up for the winter as well, obviously nothing is going to grow when it drops well below freezing, could possibly do some trapping in the winter, but hunting is undependable at the best of times. One of my biggest worries here in Saskatchewan, is an extended power outage during the winter, we are very dependent on the power grid and vehicles to keep us warm during the winter.

That really wasn’t a woman’s world. There’s a good reason there were hardly any women there, and it was because most woman don’t have that fortitude. In that environment weight is everything. Of course they ditched the sewing machine. Women sewed by hand for millennia. So did a lot of these pioneer men, incidentally.

The owner of the house is one of the people who does not have mercy, by God, my brother. He comes every day, insulting us, talking about us, and moving from the house to the street because we were unable to pay him the rent. The neighbors saw us crying and came back.They came back to talk to the neighbors and we were given the weekend. So we made him swear by God. He will take us out into the street. Have mercy on him and us. Our country is due to this war and we do not find food for our day, and my brothers and I live in a difficult life. Our father died, may God have mercy on him, and we have no one in this world who was with us in these harsh circumstances. My younger brothers went out into the street and saw...The neighbors eat and stand at their door in order to give them bread even if they break it. By God, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, they closed the door and expelled them and came back crying. They are dying of hunger. No one has mercy on them and a holiday is returned. I have made a living, and now if us helps us with a kilo of flour, I swear to God, I am dying of hunger. My brother, I am an alien to God. Then, I ask you to help me for the sake of God.
