I met Sascha with a few friends after a show and he was the best. Truly the coolest. We were instantly laughing, hugging & even punching each other like old friends joking. Then the police showed up shining their spotlight on us & asking us what we were doing by the tour busses. We fucked with them a bit and their spotlight actually made for better pictures in the darkness so we asked the cops to shine it on everyone to get better pics. Awesome memories.

Groups will have that push pull dynamic to cover up that they allow them to be in their dealings. Music isn't an accurate representation of the souls of people. That's why they get mad when someone actually relates or has a connection. Know yourself.

40 years...I can't believe how time flies. This band means so much to me. An inspiration. Everything they put out always comes with heart and authenticity. Intensity, artistic vision, imagination, and the musical embodiment of the human condition. There's a range of emotions and stories they have told over the years. Championing values that though criminally overlooked by many, are there for those willing to look past the surface. These are genuinely good people. And when they shared Professional Killer on stage with their fans and introduced their daughter, the product of their lives, their love, for her, for us, it was validation, it was touching on a level that is so deep. Thank you for being a part of my life, all our lives. Thank you for sharing your life back to us hardcore fans. I mean it with all the power and sincerity worthy of the Ultra Heavy Beat, but we love you. And we will be forever grateful for the gift of music, passion and soul that you've shared with us.

Fun story about the corset she is wearing in this video. When they were moving to Germany they auctioned off several items, including the corset. I bid on it but lost. A few weeks later I go to see them in L.A. and it is on the merch table. I have the guy put it under the table while I run out to the ATM and pull out a bunch of cash. I come back in to buy it and find that Lucia has sent a backstage pass as a thank you, so I get to hang out with the band after the show. While waiting for them to go on stage my GF says "I wonder if she cleaned it?" I jokingly replied "I hope not. I wanted to lick it." This was intended to gross out my GF and it did. We had a laugh at how absurd that would be. The show was awesome and we had several drinks. When it is over we go backstage. While we are back there Lucia says she cleaned it with Dettol and my GF immediately says "That's a shame. He wanted to lick it" and creeped out everyone. The moral of this story is that timing and context are critical to comedy. Always drink and joke responsibly.

So many kick ass songs, so many hours of top notch entertainment! It's crazy, after seeing KMFDM in Baltimore, I actually drove to Chicago, to see them again a few days later. It was long ago, but I'd do it again in a second:) A friend, and bass player in my band, originally turned me on to KMFDM in the early 90's. I still remember the night! lol We were in my recording studio all day long, we were both spent, we just wanted out, so we decided to take a "cruse". As we drove to no where, my friend put in a cassette of "Angst". He bought it because he like the cover art! With that technique of discovering new music, he generally wasted his money, but not this time! We loved the album, we drove around the D.C. beltway listening to the album over and over again! I was hooked ever since! And wow, when Nihil came out! Blown away! lol I loved KMFDM so much, they influenced my song writing style, and we became a completely different band because of it! I went from a more standard metal style, to more of an industrial sound. Outside of Iron Maiden's "Piece if Mind" album making me want to learn how to play the guitar originally, KMFDM was my absolute biggest musical influence of all time! So, Sascha, and I hope you see this, thank you sooo much for that! But, you are also responsible for my endless spending on new studio gear, software, and the endless hours it took to learn how to operate all of that gear competently! lol Outside of kinky sex, which is free, thankfully, buying new gear has been my only vice:) Keep kicking ass!

Thirty years ago, at 29 of February 1984 (not like this one) KMFDM was conceived. Throughout these years KMFDM have been messing with our minds (doing it again) making some of us better people, some of us smarter, some of us more hatefull about this reality, this system and more eager to change this society, destroying what destroys us. I consider the active years of KMFDM as Years of Light. KMFDM is probably the most honest band on this earth. I am glad that i lived only to know them. I wish i could meet them sometime. Happy birthday KMFDM may you be 100! (and then we ll say a Century of Conseptual Continuity). Cant wait to see Kaptain K head of global music revolution. Kick ass album. The albums have always been evolving since KMFDM has been around. Some moan the lack of staying true to their industrial roots, but all bands evolve their sound based off of either the sound prevailent around the time, or off of bands input. If you don't like the new sound, don't listen. Me I have found this is the first KMFDM album where I actually like 95% of the songs on it.
