Knaresborough is a fantastic market town steeped in history. There is so much to do and see. On a Wednesday, the market is always busy with loads of wonderful stalls which are very well supported. The Town Crier does his first call at 11am and is so popular. Your video has captured the market wonderfully and I love being a part of it.

Barnsley, South Yorkshire, received its Royal Charter in 1249

Yes, that's true, but many markets had non-royal charters preceding that date. Some historians believe the market in Knaresborough began before the 11th century, possibly in the 800's or 900's. Of course, no one is around to prove it one way or another. Barnsley used to be one of the best markets around.
