Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall staff from a New South Wales government department being warned not to come to Moree over crime concerns is the sort of “knee-jerk reaction stuff” people “don’t need”.
It has been revealed staff from a New South Wales government department were warned not to travel to the northwest town of Moree over crime concerns.
At the same time, a government minister told a parliamentary hearing that a push for an inquiry into regional crime was an Opposition scare campaign.
“This is the sort of knee-jerk reaction stuff that we really don’t need when it comes to tackling this issue, and it’s very unfortunate,” Mr Marshall told Sky News Australia.
“I would hope that the department has retracted that.”
