Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that FREAKS me OUT!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

They have an IV connected to you and about 30 minutes before surgery the anesthesiologist comes to connect anaesthesia to the IV. When it was time for surgery I remember going into the operating room and talking to the doctors. Maybe like 5 minutes in I just fell alseep. I might have falling asleep in the middle of a sentence. I have no idea. Lol you just kind of pass out. And then when you wake up you're in the recovery room. It's really just like falling asleep and not remembering when you fell asleep or what happened

I worked for many years as an OR RN. Our hospital had strict policies for surgery. Before you go back to surgery, you meet with your anesthesiologist to go over your medical history. Like has there been any recent changes? Your surgeon would go over the planned procedure. They mark the surgical site. You sign your Op permit. Then, your CRNA and your nurse speak with you and your family. We answer any questions y'all may have. We have studied your chart. I especially made sure everything matched as to the planned surgery. In the OR suite, there is a time out board. Your name, any allergies, surgeon, procedure, antibiotic, beta blocker and previous implants has been recorded. Any radiology films are up and visible. Then right before the incision, there is the Time Out. Everyone stops what they're doing. The music is turned down. Everyone looks at that Time Out board as I go over everything written there which was compared to the doc's history in your chart and radiology films. It sound like overkill, but it's to guarantee that the correct patient gets the correct surgery.
@JeniseSpiteri6 жыл бұрын
^music! Ok I thought I remembered music bumping before I passed out but I wasn't sure if I was just imagining it afterwards. It trips me out how they listen to music while they do surgery. I thought it'd be super quiet and focused
