Frankly I’ve never enjoyed the spirit of the English language but hearing Father Josiah is like hearing him speak in my native slavic language even though it’s english😂 God is great!

I initially thought he was an immigrant who spoke very good English - there is something about his voice that sounds like an accent, but I can’t put my finger on it. I think he is very articulate and a good speaker in any case, and I’m always glad to have watched his videos

Father I am Cypriot living in Cyprus and we are really blessed to have quite a few wonderful priests - from Cyprus and Greece- who do beautiful homilies and are very spiritual. Nervertheless, I came across you through social media and like your homilies a lot and dare to say that your voice is also very nice and equally important- right tone and depth with spiritual aura - not pompous and stentorial like others. The Americans and especially the people in the area in CA where you live are very lucky to have you as a priest and spiritual "mentor"

Praying forpeople in Hades that they might be saved. Sounds nice, but has nothing to do with Christianity or God’s word. Please remember how the “ orthodox” obscure the Gospel of Grace with many man centered traditions and also superstition

@@matthiasbrandt1252 When I pray, my prayers were heard by God before the creation of the universe. Time is his creation, so He hears every prayer. If I pray for my family member who already passed, I'm not praying them out of purgatory (which is not an Orthodox belief) but God does hear my prayer for them at the moment of their death even if that was 20 years ago.

Father, im a Greek Orthodox whos reading the Kimg James Bible. I was told not to read this bible and only read the Greek Orthodox Bible. My Pastor told me the only way to heaven is through the Orthodox religion. I asked him about the rapture, and my greek pastor has never heard of it nor was he taught about the rapture in University. I have found God these last 5 to 6 years. I wish i knew Christ sooner, I woukd have done alot more for christ ratger than for myself. Im 57 now. I still havent read the entire KJ Bible. Something holds me back. I still sin and cant stop. I need help from the holy spirit and i beg for his help. Im a greatful for everything ive had and have and thank him everyday. Now i hear this. I always pray on my knees, at least 3 times a day. Ive never fasted. Father, my point, I believe, please can you tell me where to learn everything as you teach it. For anyone, when you fast, how long should i fast for and what do i drink or eat? Please Father. I beg you, help me how i get to heaven so I can teach others. Signed; a Greek in Canada, Yiannis

Our priest made an interesting point during the Kneeling Service, he said that the only chair that should be occupied is the Throne of God, so he encouraged all those seated, the old people and infirm, at least to stand for some of the prayers if they could not kneel, in order to acknowledge the One seated on the throne. It goes very nicely with the icon of Pentecost, where the centre is the throne of God and everything is directed towards that.

Thanks for the explanation. We had the kneeling service after liturgy on Sunday. It is a Serbian custom to put grass on the floor. People plait it into circles and put them in their icon corner. There was lot of sneezing and runny noses and streaming eyes - it became a bit of a penance.

The plant used in Romania has leaves like the spades in a set of playing cards, to be like the tongues of fire at Pentecost. It doesn't seem to produce the allergic reactions. Do you get totally soaked by the priests with holy water afterwards? It is everybody's favourite part of the service here and very good at removing allergens! I love the regional differences in Orthodoxy, greetings from the others side of the Danube!

This idea of not kneeling on Sunday being in a canon is mind-blowing. I don't think I ever saw in my country all the people not kneeling, in any church, on different occasions during the Holy Liturgy on Sunday. I also kneel in certain special moments in the Holy Liturgy to show a high respect. I even saw priests kneeling in certain moments during Holy Liturgy (like when the bread and wine transform in the Holy Body and Blood). Today (Sunday) at the Holy Liturgy, the priest asked us to kneel and he also did it praying for rain.

No. You do the sign of the cross as a form of prayer. It is used in multiple cases. I'm not sure if it is a canon about when to do it as most of us we do it often.

While I value these talks very much at this point I have to say that the Orthodox priesthood has gone too far in their dogma and even going into a territory which our Saviour may regard as witchcraft...pose in which we should pray? Cannot kneel on Sunday...Etc etc of insubstantial trivia ritual to make the clergy feel more indispensable. Our Saviour and the Apostles did not ever refer to such trivia keeping their eyes on our Heavenly Father.
