My six year old wants to build machines when he grows up and is constantly assembling chain reactions. He just finished his 100 book booklist so I showed him this video and then gave him his prize; a garbage bag full of used K'nex pieces. He is now happily building away, set on making a complex machine of his own. Thanks for the inspiration.

At first I thought: “Damn, 18 months! That’s a long time.” After Watching: “This person is an insanely fast worker.” The amount of creativity and variance in this build is astounding, the film work is excellent; really gives you a grasp on all the different parts. It just wowed me at every turn, constantly one upping itself. I have immense respect for this video and it’s creator, and I hope this gets a lot more views.

The time,thought and effort put into this working contraption astounds me.just mind blown.definately n obsession n labour of love.so satisfying to watch.kinda reminds me of how da vinci saw the world.he described it as simple complexity.a series of simple things,arranged together to make more complex things.ive always wanted to make one myself.and i bet this all started as a small thing.and wound up as what we see here. #thenexuslife 👌👍👏🤝

Amazing. I saw your computer too. That was even more amazing, because of the logic and the Boolean Algebra that was unseen to the naked eye, but a very integral part of the design.

Incredible machine! I love the passion, creativity, ingenuity, and hard work that went only this project. Just curious, how long did it take to make those images where everything is black/white except the network you’re highlighting? That sounds like a lot of time spent going back and forth between the machine and photoshop.

I love how Path 8 on Network 2 has a chain lift that only connects to the motor and moves when a ball comes and hits the trigger. That’s not seen on many ball machines, as most just run all the lifts constantly.

This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Does anybody know any place where you can order specific pieces in specific colors at a reasonable price? I would like to try making something like this (obviously I won't do it this good, but nevertheless you have to start somewhere).

Wow. How long did it take to design (not build but the actual designing of it)? So many complex parts, it must've been a nightmare at times. I wonder, did you have to plan on what sections to build first (considering the size of the project and some elements appearing to be way hard to reach)? How did you manage it. 2 years well spent I can tell you that! :D
@GuitaristSJH7 жыл бұрын
I spent a long time (maybe 4 years) building prototypes and watching other people's machines - building up ideas. I was at uni (for 4 years) so had no space to build anything. I built the entire structure first, I had already built the rotating lift so that required a lot of space. then all the lifts got built. I had to move some elements around to get to the hard to reach places! I built all the elements as i went along for the most part! thank you for your comments :D
