Thoughts when the line "The sun will rise tomorrow." Tristan: "In a few hours, the sun will rise." Also: Holy shit I've been waiting for a while for him to set a default chip! I figured it'd be a heal chip or invis for utility/durability but I'll take anything if it means some consistency available to John. Letter to Lan: "I also have a transmitter attached to you. Knew you were fine, sent friends to help. Love you boys. -Dad PS: Jack into the Generator. I also ass-pulled a backdoor on Regal for the lulz. And finally: Ah yes, the Breast Stroke, a black hole's natural enemy.

I could potentially buy Yuichiro waiting until the last minute to expose Regal if they went with something like, "I know Regal is up to no good, but the planet is still doomed without his help. Once he's given us the tools we need, I'll step in to stop him from enacting his master plan." Still wouldn't be a _good_ explanation but it' d make a hell of a lot more sense than what we got.
@AlexT02107 ай бұрын
I always imagined it that Yuichiro caught on to Regal's intentions late in the game and either didn't have definitive proof, or did not see benefit in saying anything for some other reason, time being a factor.
@kozaky65847 ай бұрын
1:27:00 I will cope with this, Yuchiro told Regal that his reaction to everyone leaving the area was confirmation of his suspicion. He could've written the note for Lan expecting the worst but hoping for the best. This also feeds into the naivety of the Hikaris in general... However. This is MMBN4. It's just shitty writing.
@TheAzulmagia7 ай бұрын
Yuichiro's actions make more sense if you assume the line "I didn't expect MegaMan to be alive" was from Dr. Regal and used the wrong portrait. Still doesn't explain how he knew Lan would need to jack into the generator, though, unless he saw Regal planting bombs.

The only thing I dislike about the postgames are the 100% library requirements, because suddenly it becomes a guide game where you have to look up exactly where that one chip drops or is sold. The volcano chip in BN3 is some of the most esoteric bs I've ever seen in a video game.

I thought the Boktai quest wanted you to jack in from Netfrica originally, but it seems likelier you're intended to go to Castillo. It's outdoors and you can use the shortcut link to head directly to the warp to Undernet 3. And Castillo is even where you first hear of Django and where he goes after the side quest! It all comes together! I believe I mentioned it on the streams, but the stories between Battle Network and Boktai are very interconnected. It starts with Hideo Kojima having his Navi attacked by ShadeMan sometime between the Castillo incident and Tournament 3 (seriously), only for Django to show up and defeat ShadeMan. Kojima himself will tell you about this. After that, the side quest happens where you purify ShadeMan and cause him to lose his power, only for the post game of Boktai 2 to happen where Django has to fight him again. This leads to ShadeMan having no darkness protection in 5, but also causes The Count to try invading the Internet to fight Django in Battle Network 6 since there's not naturally any sunlight. ...I really like talking about Boktai...

You should make long form videos talking about Boktai. Who’s gonna stop you, Kojima?

I'm sure it's too late now, but if you buy untraps, they only cost 400z, they last until you jack out, and will guarantee the chip/money rewards from green mystery data. The way I get rich is to do a sneakrun/untrap run and grab all the high level gmd's I can. You can end up with like 20k Zenny per run if you are lucky. This works in most of the BN games.
@knijohn35817 ай бұрын
Thanks for the advice! But yeah, I did finally figure this out when I was playing the post-game. I didn't know Untrap worked for an entire jack-in back then, I thought it was a single consumable...
@ArclinusCastoral7 ай бұрын
There's a short, easy money run you can do once you've gotten the password for the Sharo space center cube that doesn't require untrap. There's four gmd that are never trapped, one right outside the portal to the undernet from SharoHP, two you can seen when you approach the 'spiral' and one that's a little upwards all around the warp that starts heading to Under6. You can definitely look up old guides for it. You'll even dodge virus encounters if you do the save menu glitch once to reset the step count since it doesn't start counting up to until you physically enter the undernet.
@ArclinusCastoral7 ай бұрын
Fun fact: if you spam A+B to escape the gravity well, it will count both presses individually so you don't need to get carpal tunnel to avoid an area reset.

I like when John fights Shademan he's like finally I can fight him, then BN4 rears its ugly head with more bullshit lmao. MMBN4 is truly peak, but yeah Lazermans GMD is way easier to get instead of Shade boi I remember thinking as a kid "oh boy 2 GMDs they must have specific loot" only to turn out I wasted a weekend of S ranking both Navis and getting the same GMD twice to get the same Giga chip lmao.

1:31:40 I didn't know you could mash out of the magnetic storm, so I learned the exact path to take on every screen. It is in fact possible, up until the last zone where no matter what I did I would just barely run out of time. After a couple hours of this I did look up if there was some trick and did finish the game. It's funny, I think I did the exact same thing as a kid when I beat this game, but we didn't have access to the internet like we do now so I must have just figured it was worth trying to mash at some point. I don't know why it didn't occur to me in the current day except for the fact of course there's no indication to.

That's correct. LaserMan is a much easier encounter to work with since he loves hugging the front column and has no way of destroying the Mystery Data himself.

I'm sure someone has told you, but incase no one has or it helps someone later, if you have the Sharo undernet teleporter set up, you can link it to Lan's PC, meaning fastest access to Undernet 4 while outside is Electown, port from Jomon PC to Lan's PC, then there to Sharo, and then bam, undernet 3! Much faster then Netfrica.

With the collect program and Undernnet3 money grind, finishing the library on the third run with the chip trader actually wasn't that bad. Having only played 1,4, and never finishing 5/6, 4 has been my fondest memory of the series. I'm playing the collection now, halfway through 2 and I can honestly say there are some things 4 did better, even if it does so much wrong.

Why's that? I think 4 has some enjoyable aspects, but I'm curious what would make someone find it to be their favorite of all six games.

@@TheAzulmagia I think for me it's probably the combat. 3 5 and 6 have better stories but in 3 it doesn't have a variety in combat and I feel 5 and 6 are too easy. I like the double souls in this game and I feel like they add so much to combat. I know john isn't the biggest fan of the multiple play throughs but for me I love them because they let you experience the story again without needing to lose everything that you worked so hard for. I think having so many different navis to face makes the extra play throughs worth it. it's a tough game to 100% but I would argue that all 6 games are hard to 100%. to me the only difference between 100%ing this game vs others is in this game you experience the plot and interesting stories of other characters again vs in other games you only see the other places again and just grind out the viruses I think if I didn't 100% each of these bn5 would be my favorite but the fact is in the tournament scenarios you only experience each scenarios 2 times if you only have 1 of the games and you go through 3 play throughs. for me I trade my sp cards between versions and I get all scenarios and all the different boss fights and while that makes traversing the net absolutely terrifying it creates really cool tournaments and a unique play through each time the bosses have all different patterns and I find it fun to learn them all. I won't spoil murkland but I love the post game and it feels satisfying to 100%. because you build to it for so long it feels that much more amazing when you complete it. by the third play though common viruses feel way harder and it's fun to learn and challenge myself in the brutal netscape as I do the quests for the tournaments. by the time you 100% the game you feel like you were forced to master almost every part of it. in most games I had to only struggle for a couple bosses and almost never viruses. this one you struggle with both while doing the tournament scenarios . 1 great concepts but feel kinda incomplete its tough for me to get through it do to things like full health after each battle and the art not varying for the net 2. great game but most enemies come down to, how do I hit you and obstacles blocking the path 3. great game with a great story. boring postgame and the combat is tough for the sol reason of it encourages you to only use one style change till you max it out then switch your style and repeat. 4. terrible story but I love it for reasons above (mainly combat and extra play throughs) 5 great game but the liberation missions are just virus rushes without the difficulty (Till final libaration in post game, it is brutal) the double souls are back but because they're effected by navi cust they're not as varied as in 4. the things that keeps this one from being my favorite is the fact that half the bosses are found in liberation missions stopping them from feeling like a threat and in the post game to get all the viruses you have to go through each area 3 times but without any plot or story causing you to just mindlessly grind them. 6 is too easy. while it has a variety in the combat it doesn't really feel necessary to use it. the exceptions for me are the final bass fight and the rz bosses but throughout the entire game you just feel really overpowered. All these games are great and it's tough to put into words why I love them but Bn4 is my favorite for the above reasons. If you have any questions I'd be more then happy to answer but it's pretty hard to type out everything clearly .

@@TheAzulmagia The missions having you randomly backtrack over the same areas you’ve been to, having to replay the game 2-3 times to get all the scenarios on top of that, the fights not being challenging for most of the game. All of the BN games have played have a list of things I refuse to do to get to post game content so I’m not going to lay that at the feet BN4, but from what I can tell the post game for 4 seems very underwhelming for the effort to get there.
