He made the Knicks more intimidating. Wouldn’t have been same without him. I’d rank him in top 3 toughest guys in league history. He was also a very versatile well rounded player. Skill to go along with the toughness.

​@@TheNBAGoatMason needed a tribute. These players like mj or pippen said he great he was. Those ball handling skills at his size & that built got around pipprn mj. I remember the fans went nuts seeing that. Embarrassing for Ewing but olajuwon literally was unstoppable in 94 & 95. Mj said he would p8ck him all time for his starting 5. So Riley in the finals needed Ewing fresh on offense as he didn't want him warn down on the offense. Mason did a great job. Pippen & larry Johnsons fued started b/c the Knicks trades mase for him. Pippen was def as a small foward of ljs contract. So he Said back then the Knicks downgraded b/c Mason was so good a much better than larry Johnson. He also won 6th man of the year I'm pretty positive def became an all star in Charlotte. Mason was special. The Knicks spent so much $$ on busts to compliment Ewing but it's funny how 2 young cba guys Mason drafted very late starks undrafted made it to nyc & were huge factors during the Riley era the Knicks bulls rivalry & the finals & were as close as u can come to a title. They took houston to 7 & lost very very winnable games. In the end olajuwon was the mvp & best player in the NBA that year & sadly his position was the Knicks franchise player in Ewing. If starks 3 games the rockers won came down to the wire. If starks didn't play horribly in game 7 & was just decent Knicks had a chance. I knew when they let game 4 get away it was gonna be tough. Knicks came back to Houston tied. They always did great at home games. Anyway Mason was such a great find. Like Oakley was huge great rebounder enforcer ( why Jordan was upset when they traded him ) but Mason was a great defender rebounder incredible ball handler & had the offense too. I honestly think the 92 Knicks win a title. They had Mason oak Xavier McDaniel Ewing mark Jackson that's a scary team. They took mjs bulls to 7 in only Riley 's first year. So crazy to trade mark jackson for doc rivers who was older & let x man walk. Mason also embraced nyc everybody loved his hair cuts w/ let's go Knicks shaved into his head. I also admire anyone esp in sports that will play in turkey or Spain like Mason or the cba for the chance in the NBA. Thank you so much. R.i.p mase ! 😊
