I was cold today so lit the fire and made a quick scrap knife. It's not how I imagined but worked out OK.

I love that you use scrap pieces for your projects. My instructors always insist on us using new fresh metal, especially for tools, and that’s one thing I never understood. I love working with what I have and you really re-inspire that side of me even while I’m being told everything needs to be brand new and top quality!

Gary, I really like the idea of grinding a semi circle for the little scroll to fit in. I've never seen that done and I definitely will try it. 🔥🔨👍

Another helpful video. We are our own worst critic, always and in all ways. Really helpful to see and hear you critique your own work. Thank you for the instruction and encouragement.

Awesome work mate! I'm surprised how much you can pull out a small piece of steel and make it into something like that! Brilliant!

Great video! There was a lot more material hiding in that tiny piece of scrap rasp than I thought. Very nice 👌

I’ve made a few of those blacksmith knives, like the tucking in that curl. Should make a razor out of those there very nice.

Is actually known as a "blacksmith knife" because it can be made in a blacksmith shop without the need for fitting a handle.

Hi Gary, great as always! Could you run through how you manage the forge? Like what fuel you use, how you clean it out, how long it lasts on one filling and how you put it out when you are done with it. Cheers, Mike

Already did a short one some years ago. Search my videos for “my forge”. As for how long the coke last, that depends on what you are doing! Small jobs it will last for ages, a big job and it’s gone in minutes. Unlike coal to put coke out you just turn the blower off!

More shoeing when it dries out a bit. Way too wet and muddy to film.
