Put a brass bolster on a knife and expanded my work bench area. Going to gift this knife to a friend who gave me some tools. Trying to get the bolster, knife, and the rest of the handle to meet up flush was quite the challenge. Let me know what you think. Hope you enjoy.

Complimenti, mi piace il tuo modo di lavorare, la ricerca dei particolari e la proporzione molto equilibrata.

I reckon that is a very good effort, the only people who don't make mistakes are the ones who never do anything. It all came together and resulted in a good looking knife. To me you are a great inspiration to pick up my tools and start being creative again! Really enjoy your videos so just subscribed to your channel!

Bolsters are tough... Don't be hard on yourself. #1 I recommend you keep the bolsters together, drill holes in the knife first, clamp them to the knife, then use the holes in the knife to guide your drilling of the bolsters. Just my $.02! I hope it helps! Great job, my friend!

Looks really good dude. Keep working on the knife making and post more videos. Maybe show how you sharpen your knives. 👍👍

Thanks man! I showed how I sharpen them in a previous video. But I basically just use a cheap wet stone I picked up at ace hardware and then strop it on leather. I need to buy better sharpening stones or something. Not sure what to get. Haven't done much research on it. And don't have a lot of $$ to spend on it. Oh and working on another video right now. I'm going to try to shoot for weekly videos. Like every Friday. And see how that goes.

I’m in the same boat you are . At the same level in my knife making journey. With out a bevel jig it will take practice to sharpen. Can’t wait to see what ya make next. I didn’t know this was a year old so ya may be whooping me. Lol

lol ya its a little old. I think I've improved a bit but it takes time. If you're interested I keep pretty up to date with what I'm working on instargram. Takes me a while to publish things to youtube.

It looks very nice Making bolsters isn't easy, if you want to make it a bit easier, drill the holes while the 2 brass pieces are glued together and before you've cut and shaped them

Nice. I was wondering if you would be so kind and share the brand/specs of your bench belt grinder with me? Thanks!

If it was the orange one in the video it was a WEN off Amazon 1" belt grinder. It was like $50 when I got it. But they have gone up in price. It was cheap and I ended up buring out the motor after like 10-15 knives. I started being more aggressive with my grindes as I got better at grinding bevels. If you go easy on it it would prob last quite a bit longer. The 1 inch belt grinder is a good place to start but they don't have the most powerful motors so make sure to not bog down the motor.

Thanks David. Off the top of my head is 1080 steel, brass bolster, brass pins. Ill go get the type of wood and dimensions after work tonight. If you really want to buy one I could make another one of these. To be worth it I'd have to get the cost and a little bit for my time. You can respond here or dm on my Instagram if you're serious and we can discuss. I'm more responsive on IG.
