Beautiful wood hidden by rope... would have been an amazing piece with a matching pommel/ butt cap and just the wooden handle, for me the rope ruined it

The wood of the handle is less polished, and in order to get a better grip, a rope is added. This seems to make it look imperfect.

@@creatorqi many of my knives have a polished wooden handle and grip just fine, I think if you made the wood thicker it would allow for better grip and if you shape it a little that will also help, this will just make it look much much nicer and be just as useful and comfortable

A classic piece, but if ferric chloride and stone washed it would've given it an antique look. Good, but you must also show us it's tests not only on paper also on wood and other hard substance.🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️

Looks like Padauk. Seems like a shame to cover it w paracord. Why not use a different one, like oak or pine if you’re only gonna cover it up?

5 or 6 mm can make a strong knife. if making something for light work like kitchen knives, 3 mm will be sufficient.

@@yizhuolin3906 based on my tools which are an angle grinder, a 1×30 inch belt sander and a bench grinder, I guess a 3 mm thickness is better for me, am I right? By the way I don't wanna make knives that split logs and stuff Maybe something for hunting ot things based around that

@@ripoteartionist2035 if you have weeks of time to spend, a hacksaw and a file will be enough tool to shape your knife. but angle grinder would cut 5 mm 1095 steel bar pretty well, just make sure you got a super thin cutting wheel, like 1 or 2 mm thick cutting wheel, it will slice through steel. anything thicker than that will cut super slow-- but will be okay for 3mm steel though. of course 3mm will be great for your need. 4mm can make a "pretty strong" knife that is sharp enough for what you need at the same time, and when it's stronger it can handle more tasks. greater than 5 will be good for something like chopper or swords.
