The end result was beautiful. I'm always a bit reluctant to put 100% faith in my epoxy to hold on my scales without any through pins to help retain them. I've had epoxy pop off during shock loads like dropping things on the ground. Design and execution were very nice, thanks for the video.

Love it! Why did it seem like it took longer/more effort to cut through the steel at the beginning? Is it a special steel?

Yes, it's already hardened and cryogenically treated, which makes it very hard steel.

Is there worry about the outer micarta scales having no mechanical lock or hidden pins? It seems like a hard blow on the scales would seperate the outer scale from the inner.
@ricodvorsky38444 ай бұрын
micarta is a porous material, like wood. The glue bond between two pieces of micarta is way stronger than between steel and micarta. I think the micarta would fail before the glue bond does.

Мне кажется как бы ты не охлаждал бутылкой с водой там перегрев идёт кромки сумасшедший почему ты не используешь Гриндер на малых оборотах 36-я лента с водичкой?
@DmitriTrag7 ай бұрын
я вот и думаю где закалка он же из болванки делает нож даже если болванка коленая то твердость кромки будет не отлична от обуха или при заточке ещё и отпускается что на качество ножа влияет разительно

Because proper hardening of this steel requires cryogenic treatment, and I currently do not have access to liquid nitrogen

You need to get rid of the classic knife model that has been stereotyped for thousands of years and come up with more original designs.

Your m390 was 62. After you burned the edges its probably 58rc now. What a waste. Low value. All that work for nothing
@isaacfernandes46927 ай бұрын
Chill dude. 58rc is still a pretty good hardness. Why are you so mad?
@tacticalcenter86587 ай бұрын
@@isaacfernandes4692 no its not. M390 should not be less than 61. And it's probably lower than 58. Again. Low value and a waste.

Dude, if you want to seem smart, do it right... Have you ever tried to make a file on a machine? And he doesn't get much away from this steel. He just wrote that there "should" be 62 hrc, in fact, the steel is not hampered because he could not grind it so quickly and effortlessly. It doesn't even ring like hardened steel... And the fact that he didn't show anything doesn't mean that he didn't do it...... (Sorry for the English, I used a translator)
