P and F may have been the most frustrating thing to me in the entire 14 books. Otherwise I nearly freaked out when Knife ended, because the avalanche of events was finally starting... And then Jordan up and dies on us. I think Sanderson does an excellent job wrapping things up, but it's defiantly in Sanderson's style - different and good, but don't assume he tried to mimic Jordan.

The Faile & Perrin story line was way too drawn out. I think most fans when they do rereads skip this part as it's too long. The whole set of Emond's Field characters I think are all starting to find their true feet at this point. After this book it certainly does speed up. I've lost count of the times I've read the series. favourite characters. Mat & Thom. Hate Cadsuane & Faile.

Egwene's arc, and just Egwene as a charchter, is one of the best things about this series. she is definitly my favorite female charchter. her story just gets better and better all the way. i actually realy enjoyed Faile's situation during the whole "Perrin moaning" phase (as u rightly dubbed it), and while Moaning Perrin wasnt my favorite Perrin, i cant say i DISliked it. there were some very interesting situations that came to be because of his desperation. they could have been resolved faster though, i agree...

I'm re-reading book 9 right now(via audiobook). Book 8 made me so mad, mainly because it was mostly the female characters, and oh my God, what a bunch of clucking, idiotic hens. I want to put every Aes Sedai over my knee. And then burn them at the stake. The whole Morgase story line.... should not even have been written. It doesn't solve or show anything. Gah. Sorry, I just needed to vent. I love Egwene.

Bettie Turner Haha agreed, that was so annoying all the 'misunderstanding' about Morgase! So unnecessary!

The thing I like about your reviews of this series is that you actually like Elayne. =) I actually liked Faile's situation but Perrin, yep, awful. I'm one of the few that like Nynavae and I notice you don't mention her much. I love Lan too.

Common Touch of Fantasy Nynaeve I used to like a lot more in the earlier books, but she is a bit hit or miss for me with her actions in the later books. I think she's great when she's feisty and arguing her point, but I don't so much like the whole Lan situation and trying to convince Rand to help, I felt that made her a little too desperate and unfeeling. I do think Lan is a fabulous character too though :) I always forget him as he's not been so prominent until recently, but I look forward to seeing how the whole battle with him plays out and what he does.

I'll try not to be too negative but this was the book that wrecked me. Things had come to a complete standstill as plots from three books previous were still being explored. I'd say it was the next book (The Gathering Storm) that took a hard left to get things back on track. This was the point where I nearly gave up on the series which was made even harder when Robert Jordan died. Readers were left with an incomplete series that dragged on for too long and that was painful. I think Jordan had an excellent vision for this series, but due to habit or failing health was no longer able to keep a strong focus on a refined narrative. I'm glad you are liking it though and have avoided the frustration I felt. After this book you'll get nothing but peachy comments from me.

Let's Read :) I can understand the frustration for sure! I think book 10 angered me a lot more in terms of feeling more like a standstill, but I have finished book 12 already and I LOVED it so so so much :) I'll probably film my review for that next week and upload it soon after, but it's pretty much going to be talking about how much Sanderson helped the series.

there was a lot in this book i did not like much... that being said im a mat fanboy and the Chapter "As if the world were fog" is proble my favorite chapter in the entire series. it is the first time in the 5-6 books that she is in we get to see Tuans PoV and what she thinks of Mat... Kate Redding kills that part in the audiobook ... i cry a bit every time the band starts singing.. also realy love the start of Eguenes white tower arc.. if im being honest with my self its proble my favorite. book... just for them two arcs.. and i know what ya mean about almost giving up.. i quit at book 5 for 4 years and got back in to it outa bordem.

You are 100% correct there are so many annoying female characters and not only this book but all of Robert Jordan's books. He has a fundamental misunderstanding of how the female mind works, more so than the average man. In this series they have been reduced to silly, ridiculous, snivelling stereotypes. That being said this book definitely got back on track after the disastrous, previous two books. The only real problem with this book was Perrin. The way he has spent these last volumes stumbling around crying about his wife was essentially the equivalent of a hockey player being put in the penalty box. It's almost as if Jordan needed him out of the way to concentrate on other things, I know that's not the case but it sure felt that way. Let's hope moving forward Perrin has greater adventures on his mind. Thanks for the review, cute song!
