You can literally take a dull knife to hair splitting sharp in a couple minutes. Very pleased with this kit.

Good video. I ordered a 7-belt set that came with 120, 220, 400, 600, 800, 1200 grit belt, and a leather honing belt for my HF 1x30 belt sander. I will be trying to sharpen my katana and medieval long sword with these belts. My swords are entry level fully functional swords of not too high dollar value so if I screw up I will take that as learning experience. Using a belt sander (expertly) sure beats using various grits level of whetstones to sharpen knives and swords. Of course someone from YT will totally disagree but each to his own.

Just found this kit on Amazon as I am shifting from Work Sharp Ken Onion toward benchtop belt sander style sharpening. If these belts match the enthusiasm in your descriptions, this is a no-brainer.

What a great system. I have a set of nice Japanese stones and I love the ceremony of doing all that, but it just takes too long. If your knife is reasonably sharp, this setup will keep it sharp in a very small amount of time. The chrome mirror reflection it leaves on the blade is pretty cool looking as well.

These belts are great, I purchase a 1x30 specifically for the leather belt and it is awesome!

When putting the belt on, do you have the smooth face of the leather on the inside or outside?

We typically run the belts smooth side out.

How do you know when the belts need replaced? I am absolutely loving these btw!! I can get my knives razor sharp (will shave) within minutes!

Simply whenever they stop working. Thanks!

You should show sharpening with water dips and add a warning about belt heat ruining heat treats especially at higher grits. 3450rpm is too fast for most people and they damage edges as they sharpen.

I got this but the buffing compound was like solid chalk and unusable.

Whats is the name of the grinder ? How can I order a full package?

The Belt Sander is a Harbor Freight 1X30 machine. We don't sell the grinder, just the belts and accessories. You can find all of our products here www.prosharpeningsupply.com

Looks like I need to loose the table and "free hand" all the way.
@prosharpeningsupply3 жыл бұрын
We find that sharpening freehand is very easy with a little practice. For most sharpening applications, freehand can get the job done very well.
