Very nice video. I have multiple sclerosis and I am not able to use thumb or other fingers opening systems. So I am using only fixblades, or OTS auto knives. I was a knife collector, before. At this video, I can choose some knives, that is why I am so happy. At present time, I wear spyderco ARK, or Victorinox fruit knife in kydex. Those are nice blades, which I am using every day to help me. Cause I am not able to open can, or bottle without them. Well I am able, but with help of these knives, it is more easy. What are the safest locking mechanisms in terms of a knife not potentially opening in the pocket? I tend to go with back locks because the blade will "snap back" if the knife opens a little bit. I've been carrying spyderco back locks and swiss army knifes for the last 10 years. I had a sage 5 liner lock open in my pocket and it almost bit me when I stuck my hand in my pocket to grab a pen during a business meeting. I haven't been able to carry liner locks since.
@The_RC_Guru Жыл бұрын
My sog twitch 2 has a small lever on the back to lock it closed. That and it’s a back lock. There’s one option.
@TheTarman Жыл бұрын
Liner locks and frame locks are fine as long as there’s a good detent, but some even have additional safeties to lock the liner/frame in place when opened, and lock the blade in place when closed. But you’re probably already making the right choice, because back locks inherently have that bias towards closure without the need for anything like a detent ball. I’d keep doing what you’re doing
@antimatter2380 Жыл бұрын
I have an ad10 and that has bitting me more times than any other knife. I don't know if it's the size, but that tip is always coming out a bit then snapping in closed on my hand. Strong back lock when open, bad detent when closed.

@franticflintstone7999 Жыл бұрын
While I'd prefer if Spyderco upgraded to 9CR for their budget line, I don't mind 8CR. D2 is a steel I avoid because I like the outdoors and I don't wanna worry about rusting, chipping, or difficulty field sharpening. 8CR you usually just need to hone a lot, which takes seconds. As to whether the price is fair, I don't know. To me, if it's a design I like from a company I trust and it's under $100, I'm probably gonna get it. There's probably a few bucks added on for the brand, but they do have a third party designer, a U.S. made Boltaron sheath, and it looks like the Stok has nice looking grinds and fit and finish.

@@abc456f I guess I just feel like I’m being lied too. It’s still a budget price and I believe the quality is the same as a civivi. It’s just to me when they say it’s the budget of civivi then I think even cheaper when it’s basically the same price.

I’m still waiting for Victorinox to make a new keychain knife that is just like the classic SD but only has just the small blade with Alox scales. Tell me that wouldn’t be cool? And they could put them out in different colors for like 20 bucks apiece or some thing. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Like the tiniest single layer form factor like the Alox Solo but tiny that would just get lost on your keychain. They would sell a boatload of them. The ones with the scissors and all that are cool but I just think if they made something even smaller it would just make people go crazy. They can keep that wood one.

The closest thing to that is something I saw in a video on MeZillch's channel. He took a Victorinox Escort (single layer -- just knife and file), removed the scales, and polished it to a mirror finish using Simichrome polisher. It's ultra-thin and kinda cool looking.

My Victorinox Swiss Army is the best watch I have ever owned. Keeps better time than digitals.

Boy.. Benchmade really hates poor people. 😢

Buy second hand, that's how most of us avoid the butterfly tax. You can get Bugouts for about a hundred. Edit: I've also seen mini Admas for less than 150.

@@Knivess0 I do that. Many times the primary user didn't use the knife very much, if at all. I just sharpen it to my liking and it's good to go.

Those benchmades are pretty impressive. But that’s way too much cash to drop “cause it’s cool”

Benchmade needs to raise their prices! I mean, the prices of yachts have skyrocketed and Benchmade executives are struggling!
