PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't connect the input power for the LED strip directly to the microcontroller! You will kill your Arduino! For even a 1 meter strip of 60 led/m you need a 5v 3a power supply! The Arduino cannot do that!

I've been using a 5V 20A power supply for my leds, connected to the arduino and it's been a month so far I don't see the issue

You can drive 120 from the 5v pin, it's pulling from the 5v supply. Did this guy connect the supply to a gpio? I can't make out which pin he connects too

The arduino eill act something like an expensive fuse

Put a resistor on the data line and add a capacitor to the 5v line and you won't have to worry about it .. if you do the math... using enough leds to do this would be more expensive than an arduino .

@@aakburns ?? How did you mess up your wiring? Ledstrips should just run. With out problems if enough voltage is provided. Take a look at WLED way easier to do this.
