more like flaming strike is doing almost all the work, but yeah, i can agree that kgs is one of the best ones, good damange, good speed, and has one of the longest ranges of the weapon class.

Yeah man, always had an eye on this sword, due to the move set and how cool it looks and as you mentioned one of the longest ranges in the weapon class. The only issue I had was the first R1 being on the slower side making it harder to whiff punish good opponents, that's where the buffs in 1.07 to flaming strike imo really makes this weapon work, as the flaming strike ash of war, can be used as an opener to setup R1's or Jump R2s. Is there an ash of war you prefer?

@@thereddimension4559 that's a good question, i mean, Flaming String has always been a good ash of war for any weapon, for me i have tried giant hunt, raptor of the mist and quick step for kgs, and now im testing impalig trust as an opener/mix up.

@@WeeabooPocky for sure bro but can’t deny how the l2 wouldn’t combo half the time before the buffs. I do like giant hunt and the new impaling thrust buffs it got, but I’d still argue the best knight sword does in pvp in 1.07 is with flaming strike due to the buffs to it, but I’ll give impaling thrust another go. I see your point my guy but my question would be, why gatekeep an Ash of War? Isn't it part of the game and the whole point of PVP is to optimize whatever weapon you like to its best ability. The flaming strike buffs in 1.07 helps a lot of weapons now and Knight's Greatsword just happens to be one of it.

@@thereddimension4559 First off, I was just making a joke. Secondly its perfectly fair criticizing your overuse of a blatantly overpowered AoW for a crutch. Third PvP is just for fun. Tryhards try to turn it into their own toxic cheesefest in favor of “optimal performance” when PvP is only intended for fun. Sure if you are in a tournament and everyone is playing to be performing at their best in both build and mind then fair but when I’m goofing with friends having a free-for-all with the Ringed Finger and G9 wannabe build copy paster N/A comes in to overcompensate with his exploits and cheap tactics it gets old really fast for example. Play how you want but please not at the expense of everyone else at least. You really don’t get anything for “winning” and lose nothing for “losing”. I’m not saying you are a G9 Stan just talking about “PvP just being competitive” like you were saying. This is 2 months old but KZbin did not notify me until someone liked this comment so I checked in and found your reply. I’m not mad, butthurt or salty since sweats like to say that if you criticize them in any way. I hope you get where I’m coming from. I’m not trying to attack you personally. @@zanemob1429 hey broski just read this and you’re right about how OP ashes can ruin the fun. I don’t even use this but at that time wasn’t the best with knights Greatsword but this ash made it work for me. That being said one thing I’d argue in regards to having fun vs playing to win. As much as it’s fun playing to win, there’s a famous saying “how one approaches anything in life is how one approaches everything.” So just adding another layer of perspective that some people just want to win regardless of fun or not because that’s how they treat all aspects of life and are super competitive, their fun only comes from winning, which is what you’ll see some op/meta builds, as annoying as it can be, there are reasonings why people run stronger builds and also iron sharpens iron so if people are running stronger builds, it forces us to think outside the box helping us to grow and become a better player, but like you also said it ain’t that Srs there’s no price but at the same time if one is investing hours into something don’t you want the best ROI for your time possible? Regardless appreciate your input and the kind words in there as well, hopefully fromsoft gives us dlc soon and some newer weapons!

Appreciate it asking Rangarr 🙏. I’d recommend running a quality build with this sword with 40-40 dex strength split or strength for two hand bonus and going strength and faith for vykes lighting buff. Ash of war is flaming strike, it’s follow up got buffed, before the second hit of flaming strike would usually miss with knights sword but now it lands most of the time. Also use shard of Alexander to make the ash of war stronger! Cheers and feel free to ask any other questions! Also unrelated you can do a pretty nasty King Ragnarr build and use Kaiden armor, have you tried it yet?

My b for the late reply, but for the build I’d just go with the imagination, seeing what weapon they use and try to get the closest weapon possible to them! But the armor should be Kaiden as it seems the most Viking of all the armors! Cheers bruh

this is just a flaming strike compilation. you didn't use the sword's moveset at all. use a different AoW that you don't need to crutch on and you'll see how mid greatswords still are.

@@thereddimension4559 i actually like flaming strike on my claymore lol. my point is that you're using nothing but FS. try it with something that you can't spam so you'll use the weapon's actual moveset. cragblade or endure or something like that. you'll understand why GS isn't that great. the only gs I'll touch is claymore, because the pokes either make them roll into you or away from you. if they roll in, they get caught in a flaming strike vortex.

I have to try impaling thrust on this and yeah man having a poke like claymore would complete this sword. Luckily a good ash of war can create respect in duels and then we can implement the knight sword gameplay once opponent is on the back foot, cheers bruh

​@@thereddimension4559 The point of the comment you replied is basically: The title implies the video is going to showcase something more unique to the weapon. Like its moveset, or its moveset's combination with several ashes. Instead, its a video that would better suit the Iron Greatsword, since it scales more and can flame strike. Both of us are well aware is part of the game, and are okay with it. We were just expecting something more unique to specific weapon other than subpar damage(which is old news).

@@effive7817 appreciate the extremely constructive criticism broski and I do see the points. My counter point would be that none of the buffs in 1.07 efffect knights Greatsword as much as flaming strike buffs. I do understand flaming strike has always been good but it didn’t combo half the time before the buffs to the combo in 1.07. The one factor where IMO KGS lacks is creating initial respect when a fight starts due to its slower opening move set. I think this gets taken care of by having a quick and strong ash like flaming strike, which allows us to use r1s and jump l2 once we’ve established that we’re not afraid to poke with the flames 🙏

Hey, incase you didint know, the jump light/heavy into light is actually a true combo! If you hit a jump attack immediatly light to deal a bunch of dmh

Great swordplay there, Red! *pun 100% intended* But jks aside, I love the aggressive usage of Flaming Strike into standard R1s. The visual disruption of the flames seemed to helped sneak in some cheeky hits. Also, didn't know that Knight's Greatsword had the same animation as Lucatiel's Sword in DS2 🤣

LOL you onto my title 🤣. Yeah, I was surprised to see the damage of it compared to before and how it holds up to other weapons. The move set is clean too as the sword doesn't hit the ground (like claymore does) and the third r1 hit animation is so clean. Still need to figure out how to attack faster with this when someone whiffs as standard attacks seem on the slower side. Man i got late into the souls game, (demon souls) on ps5 LOL so unaware of DS2 but did finish DS3 🤣

@@thereddimension4559 I've always found Jumping R1s to be a great way to close distance/whiff punish. Maybe swapping to an identical Knight's Greasword with Giant's Hunt is a good option too. I think Lucatiel's Sword is also in DS3. It should be called Hollowslayer Greatsword in that game and should have the same moveset.

Was around Level 137, you can either run this with 50-60 strength or 40 strength 40 dex quality build. Vigor was 55, cheers!

always nice to see gank spanks by the way if you hit with the early start of the flame(and therefore can't r2 combo), try just pressing l2 again to catch the usual panic roll, works a good amount of the time.

Thanks again man, tbh I never dislike gank squads as i feel it’s usually people not so good at 1v1 but still want the PvP experience with friends and they give a good challenge! I do appreciate the roll catch info, I wasn’t aware of this. Just to be sure, do L2 right again after the first L2 with no pause in the middle?

Huge fan of this patch giving shine to the lesser used weapons and Ashes of War. Like before this I just defaulted to Redmane flame because it seemed stronger - but that flame buff on Flaming Strike is just too good. Great work Red!!
