De Nogaret is the best character in the series so far. He's honestly why I keep watching because I honestly couldn't care less about Landry or the Queen.

In fact, he was a great statesman, that is, he worked for the strengthening of the French state in the figure of Philip IV, Philip had a lot of power and bowed to everyone as he could in favor of his personal goals, after his death the the seed of the rise of the French state was already planted, France already prefigured the current national states, controlled by businessmen, lawmen, ministers and politicians, the universal virtues defended by the Catholic Church were transformed into virtues of faction, doing everything in favor of the nation has become the rule over the years, it will pass through Napoleon in his tyrannical intent, it will influence all of Europe and the movement directly and indirectly influences the totalitarian movements of the 20th century. Fascism, Nazism, Communism, Americanism in short.

Still doesn't make sense that someone isn't a believer. It'd make more sense if his faith was just weak and he was a more practical man with more practical tastes, kind of like Tywin Lannister, who still believed in the Divine but had little faith in that and more faith in his own machinations. It would make more sense if he saw the King as God's rightful vassal on Earth, and instead of not having faith, what little faith he would have would point him to Divine-Right monarchy being the right way to go. But he is right about the Pope Boniface VIII being corrupt. The man tried to claim that he was the top king on Earth, which only earned him enemies all over the Catholic world, and everyone from the French King to Dante Alighieri denounced him.

Exactly. The Pope tried to claim power that he didn't have. You don't get to make extravagant claims of power unless you can back it up.

de Nogaret's grandfather was meant to be PARZIFAL (inheritor of the Grail) as per Wolfram von Eschebach's tale. However, it seems the Templars recovered the Grail and it went back to ANFORTAS' son i.e. James "the Conqueror", King of Aragon, who was brought up by the Templars at Monzon Castle. Needless to say, de Nogaret must have been pretty annoyed and made it his life's mission to destroy the Templars, and find out what happened to the Grail.

I'm confused, did he die in season 1 and then the king chose another statesman with the same name, or it's just a different actor? Because both statesmen appear very different in their tone of acting

he was really a cathar? the real Nogaret or is just fiction?
@libiusperseus
@libiusperseus 3 жыл бұрын
That's unclear. Guillaume de Nogaret was often said to be a heretic. Or, at least, to be part of a family of heretics. A register of the Inquisition mentions a Cathar called Raymond de Nogaret. This Raymond might be Guillaume's grandfather but it is unsure. There is no reliable source to confirm Guillaume was a Cathar. But, if his grandfather was, it was probably enough for his ennemies to accuse him to be a Cathar himself.

nogaret does not look like peryr investigate well i have the book of cursed kings and marigny looks more like petyr because the two of a humble family and for certain reasons took an important place next to the king they served two kings. Marigny led a group of officials, he was Prime Minister and Councilor of Philip the Beautiful.Felipe my king, how many days have we spent side by side, we thought the same about all things; we made mistakes we corrected them. In your last days you were apart from me, because your spirit wavered and the envious tried to separate us. Now I will be alone in the work undertaken.all he needed was Marigny to remember his prodigious career, to consider where he had come from and how far he had come. to calibrate in that moment his power and at the same time his loneliness.every time he had to pass the statue he was outraged that they had raised this bourgeois so high. cunning and intrigues have given him so much smoke that he pretends to be of our blood.Cultivated and skilled, he was the man that was needed to serve the plans of Felipe IV from whom he obtained his trust. He shared the hatred that the king attracted in public opinion by devaluing the currency and was his agent in the conflict he had with Luis, Count of Nevers, son of Robert III of Flanders, imprisoning Luis and forcing Roberto III to leave Lila, Doté and Béthune.Lord Petyr Baelish, popularly called Littlefinger, was the Master of Coin on the small council under King Robert Baratheon and King Joffrey Baratheon. He was a skilled manipulator and used his ownership of brothels in King's Landing to both accrue intelligence on political rivals and acquire vast wealth. Baelish's spy network is eclipsed only by that of his arch-rival Varys.Marigny also had an enemy and rival, Count Carlos de Valois, King Luis X's uncle, the two never agreed, they always argued, they ruined each other's lives.

@devinweir7869
@devinweir7869 3 жыл бұрын
i know this is 3 hours late but its because its about the knights templar. I don't think it was as succesful as history was hoping it would be, but the formula they were following is very clearly based on their other sow vikings. Vikings wouldn't have been as good of a show about vikings if the gods they believed in weren't wrritten as if they were actually real. I also don' think you would have as good of a show about the knights templar if you didn't include the holy grail and the address all the legends about them.
