For those noticing the "practical effects" now clear in view: 1) Tv screens were a lot smaller back then and if you were a kid you watched this show on the 14-18 inch tv in your room. 2) Broadcasts were the same quality of analogue broadcast signals they had used since the 1950's which meant that most houses picked up the tv signal from the tv antenna on their houses. Needless to say all kinds of atmospheric disturbances and distance to the broadcast signal affected what you saw on your tv. A crystal clear image even in standard definition didn't become a reality until digital broadcasts and dvd's. 3) You saw the episode *once* and unless you recorded it on your VHS you weren't going to see some scenes over and over and over agains like we're able to now. 4) You weren't really looking for mistakes and obvious trick filming when you watched anything on tv like you can do now when hindsight is 20/20.
@RandomGuy333694 жыл бұрын
If you think about it. The people watching these shows in the 80's thought the shows/movies from the 60's and before had cheesy effects. The show's we watch now will be cheesy in 20 years. It's the way of things. Side note... Sometimes I would like to have UHF signal back. When digital has a poor signal you get nothing or extremly choppy picture.. With UHF you can still half ass watch it

These scenes were actually filmed after the principal photography on "Knight of the Phoenix" was completed. According to Glen A. Larson (may he rest in peace), they were added because the pilot episode was short and additional scenes needed to be filmed to extend the episode to its proper running time. I'm glad they did as these scenes are great and add more humour. Also, they led to a series of moments where either car thieves try to steal KITT or KITT has interactions with people (or dogs) passing by throughout the series.

That's TV before the 2000s for ya. The tricks they used were blatantly obvious, but we still believed them. Here's another one: When KITT is driving back to Michael, it's clearly a guy driving the car with a cover over his body. You can even see him take his hands off the wheel when the car stops.
@robertbennion31663 жыл бұрын

@@vontavius01 6:58 you can see the stunt driver sitting behind the drivers seat he put his hands through a cloth draped hole and his legs underneath the seat. I think they used a mirror set up so he could see where he was going.

@@btqy If you look closely as soon as the car enters you can see the man in the back seat as it comes into view and he turns the corner he ducks down. One headrest is see-through the other is not. If you look at the driver's seat (The back) there is the shape of a man in there covered up.
