I've never needed shears before, but of course now I can see me needing a pair.
@MORGANSMaintenance

They are called Electricians shears… but I use them for other stuff way more than that. From house wrap, plastic packages, to whatever. To me they end up mostly being really just expensive scissors, but they will cut some stuff regular ones won’t if I need them to.

@@madelinehoyle1059 Fiskars makes some good scissors too. I got a pair of those Power Arc Siding shears and they cut about anything. I do like these the best out of my scissors. I like the Vampliers I got better than the original Knipex, but I like these best.

As an A/V technician, the cheaper $20 knipex are my favorite snips I've owned. I've used the yellow kleins for years and the knipex are more ergonomic and while more bulky are reliably more comfortable. While cutting cables and stripping 50x+ a day they work well. You can hold them with your ring finger like the kleins and or with all 4. They really thought of everything.

They are nice… I just prefer the bigger handles, but probably because I don’t use the small ones as much as someone like you to get my fingers in the groove of doing the work. Appreciate your input.. very helpful 👍

Please,which of them would you suggest, as a general use, every day heavy duty scissors, for someone who'snot electritian, but deals with thin wire, kevlar cord,zip ties and clamshell? Klein Tools 21010-6, the Knipex? or maybe the Facom or the Fumasi? Between the ones you've tried , which would suit my needs better please? I'd really appreciate your opinion

I have both versions, but they are older versions and both have the plastic sheat with the belt clip. I like the angled one more, it is more powerful, easier to use. But on most cases I use the proper tools cutting or stripping the conductors. Actually in some places the supervisors don't let me to use the scissors and utility knife for stripping and cutting, and even the zip ties have to be shortened perfectly, using a flush cutting plier. So I don't use the scissors as much as before.
@MORGANSMaintenance

Yeah I normally use strippers with cutters when dealing with electrical wiring. These I use more for low voltage and just a pair of scissors that are compact and fit in my tool bag better. (And I have the bigger cutter if I need it) Rarely get used as “electricians” shears.

Try the Vampliers sissors. I have been really impressed. They have one model like the 20 dollar kinepex but they have a spring loaded pair as well. The spring loaded are great.

That outside rib on the straight shears is so you can grab it there, if you do they cut through everything like it’s paper. Not dogging the angled, I’m just talking from what I have and they’re worth so much more than $20

I like you bought the cheaper pair first, when I saw the angle pair I had to have them. I can tell you with these old hands there is no comparison. I don't use the crimpers but in a pinch they are there. Nice review, thank you for all of the video's.

Yeah it took me a bit to make the decision, but after using them it’s not even close. If you can swing the price difference, I would highly recommend them if you are in between which one to get.

They cut well and are compact… but I wouldn’t want to use them for a long period of time. I never like to “push” things on people… but if you can swing the extra money I think it’s worth it. Unless you only use them very rarely.

I have thought about these scissors a few times by don't have much of a need for them. I have ergo-shaped pliers from NWS and have found them a bit awkward to store in the tool bag, and thought these would have a similar issue, especially without a holster supplied.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance Жыл бұрын
Yeah my Irwin’s that are similar to your NWS are hard to store. These don’t store as good as the originals… but it’s not as long of a tool as those pliers and they fit in my bag well. (In my bag, and where I put them… won’t be the case for everyone)

With all due respect, and I mean that sincerely, you may need to change your grip with the older pair to triple your leverage. I own both of them and love them both. When you use the straight pair, if you don't put you hands in like a normal pair, you can easily chop through big wire. Put your ring finger in the lower loop and hold the upper inside your hand, with your thumb just outside the loop. Give it a try and see...I find these scissors to be much better to use in many applications than tools that are made specifically for the tasks. 😊

I would love to get my hands on one those at some point! But I doubt they would beat out my Klein free-fall snips for day-to-day use. It seems like the angled shears would be too clunky for stripping the outer jacket of category cable. That is one of the most frequent tasks in low voltage cabling, and one of the most delicate. But if anyone has experienced you using this tool for it I'd be interested to hear your opinion!

Your hands feel wadded becasue your grip is improper. This is also the reason they are not cutting properly. Keep that same form however take your thumb out of the loop and place you palm over the handle instead. This is why there is grip on the outside of the handle.
