Me too! Although, when I was in the middle east many years ago, I was taught to make a version of this recipe. The dough was the same, but the filling was a samboosa ground lamb mixture. Still delicious. And, sometimes we used to steam them for a different texture.

Never heared of them before. I really need to try this out! What I know about this dough is, that the vinegar in it makes it possible to strech it out very thinly. Which is important, when you wanna make European "Apfelstrudel": apple strudel. Rule: through your dough you should be able to read a newspaper, if you layered that with it. And then the Apfelstrudel is baked as a whole. Greetings from the far north of Germany!

when i was young i used to eat beef knishes with gravy at a jewish deli plus real fermented kosher dills with garlic and the most amazing key lime pie, NO meringue, with an oreo crust, that wonderful deli is long gone and i have never found another one that compares to that deli re people and food

Love you chef John. I've been watching you for almost 10 years and even though I'm keto now, I still love watching you cook and listening to your jokes. With that being said, this is something that could be very easily made keto, with a fathead dough and mashed cauliflower. I'll have to give it a try, so I too can enjoy! :)

Knish's conditioner? That is now officially the most horrendous pun since "You are after all the David Hasselhoff of your potatoes Romanoff". Love these videos but the "You are after all..." is my favorite part. :D

Here in Britain, we call them corned beef pasties. Different shape, done with puff pastry, but basically the same thing. We Brits eat tons of them.

I love knishes! It reminds me of my hometown in Maryland! I went to Coney Island and had a Coney Island dog. The pizza is amazing! They say it’s in the water. Great job Chef John!😍💞💓🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

You're a cheeky bugger Chef John! .... "Provocative" indeed. Yes, they do look like my cat's rear end, and you prefer them with a "brown bottom".

The best knishes we ever had were on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, just down from the Farmer's Market, which used to be the Jewish deli/restaurant row in the 1960's and 1970's when we lived there. The best potato knish also had some minced onion.
