Again, I say we are from the same mold. I have a hearing impaired daughter and a husband getting cancer treatments. My heart goes out to you and your family. I can relate to the time consuming appointments. Your yarn is beautiful!! I definitely have sweater issues even when I do the gauge swatch and a ton of measurements. I look forward to more discussion on your channel ❣️

Hi Sharon and thank you for your episode - as always, lovely works in progress and beautiful new yarn dyes. I too would love to go whale watching. However, your series on gauge (tension here in the UK) is one I am particularly interested in because I really struggle with getting sweaters to fit! I am a rather tight knitter and usually have to go up a needle size to reach the gauge stipulated in the pattern. But, I also have stunted stitches! I can get (usually) the stitch gauge but never the row gauge. This creates problems with length and particularly if there is a stated number of rows to be worked. It's a pain at armholes and yokes and sleeves with decreases or cables or colourwork where just knitting extra rows involves working out what the adjustment I need to make for the decreases or cables or colourwork. Decreases are ok but if there's a textured pattern or colourwork, it can really tax my brain. Have you any suggestions as to how I can overcome my stunted stitches?

Thanks Sharon for the gauge “reminder”! I’ve never been able to figure out why gauge isn’t a four letter word….it should be! The yarn is beautiful! Happy Wedding wishes to your daughter and her intended!! The narwhal is a species of toothed whale native to the arctic. It’s closely related to the beluga whale. 😉

I made the flax pattern, but it was huge. My fault for not gauge swatching.

I can never get gauge to come out right, hence no sweater making, maybe this will help. Glad everyone is well.

Here are some suggestions: Knit a much bigger swatch. Start with the suggested needle size and go up a needle size and down a needle size. You can just switch needles as you knit the swatch. (Just be sure that you keep track.) Make sure you wash and block your swatch. Figure out the stitch count over the size you intend to measure and compare it to the stitches per inch for the gauge of the sweater. (number of stitches divided by the length measured). Measure in a few different rows on the swatch. Measure the middle of the swatch not the end stitches. If your sweater is knit in the round knit the swatch in the round. Sounds like a lot of swatching but give it a shot and see what you come up with!

Do you ever dye worsted weight?

I don't dye Worsted Weight on a regular basis. But I do dye DK to order. I also have some Non-superwash Worsted weight that I can dye.
