Thank you so much for this introduction / cast-on tutorial. I have been trying out my machine (basically the same but here in Germany mine is a Knittax M2) and have really been struggling with the only cast-on method I had seen others exlain (basically an e-wrap cast on, but the ribbing needles get cast on clockwise) So finicky and frustrating. I knew there must be an easier way. So thanks so much for this!!

Great video, thanks for the shout out. 😘. These are lovely machine and a pleasure to use, as long as they are serviced and working properly. Unfortunately most of them were badly stored and things rusted and bent and some don’t work well anymore.

Hello i hope your doing alright, your videos are a blessing because i recently bought a old empisal knitting machine here in Germany, probably from the 1960s and the instructions are difficult to understand. So your explanations on this channel were super helpful. I´m looking forward to start my first garment with the help from your videos. I hope you continue to make videos in the future, i haven´t found another channel with the knowledge that you provide. Take your time. Greetings and Happy Christmastime!

This machine is very similar to my Matador Super Home Knitting Machine. I didn’t know how to operate the machine when I attached the ribber so your video has been invaluable, so thank you very much.

Very good video. Very good machine. Needs to be deeply cleaned and oiled before use. and then it is a delight!

Thank you for this! I have a Knitmaster 6500 with the Ribmaster, but I could never get it to work--the ribber wouldn't catch the yarn. I was getting afraid that it wasn't set correctly, or had gotten knocked out of alignment ( it's the kind with the pegs and fittings rather than clamps, so isn't adjustable) but this gives me hope. Please do more tutorials, you do a great job!

Hi I have recently acquired a KnitKing with the autamatic ribbing attachment, reversing bar as well as the original instruction and pattern book along with the "KnitKing Original home study course" consisting of 10 lessons. I have just gotten to lesson 4 and have found your videos very helpful. Thank you! I would love it if I could send you a copy of this course and maybe you could do some parts as video tutorials. I am a bit of a visual learner and mostly self taught. Knitting has never been my forte as I am predominately a crocheted and sewer and own a PFAFF 260 and JUKI LU-563. I love the old machines :)

Thank you for the great video. I recently got my long gone grandmothers knit master 3500. Its warranty card is dated 1954. Do you know if the latch opening brushes can be replaced? It’s the only thing on the machine that has broken due to age.

Hi, I love your video on the knit king 4500. I bought one last year and I'm still learning. Mine is white on the ends and the carriage is white as well. No ribber though, but that is fine by me. What do you think is the best weight yarn to use on this machine? I recently watched a video where every other needle was used and that was very interesting. She was making socks and she loved this type of machine because of the sinkers she didn't use any extra weights while she was knitting the socks. Very interesting. I also loved your video on how easy these older machines are to operate and get knitting right away. thanks so much for doing this it really helps people like me, loving these older machines.

The beauty of this machine is that it really doesn't mind about the yarn too much. I would be inclined to use period appropriate yarns, so 3 ply Lamb's wool or 3 or 4 ply wool/ wool mix is best. It will cope with up to DK acrylic though (just) so play and find out!

@@singlentendre thank you so much, I have a spinning wheel and spin some of my own yarns. I might have to step up and really spin some finer wools. Thanks again for making these videos and sharing information about these lovely knitting machines. Bye from Idaho, USA

Really nice! ... If you were actually knitting the ribbing on the garment, should would move your stitches from rib to main the same as modern machines?
@singlentendre2 жыл бұрын
Yes - the original machine only came with a crochet hook for that job but I tend to use a double ended needle.

Hello, I'm trying to use my Great Auntie Molly's Knitmaster 4500. It seems to be missing a switch on the left side of the sliding part, and is therefore not sliding smoothly that way. Have you any idea where I could get that part from, without buying another machine?

Hi, just a simple question about the gauge, is that a 5.08 mm machine, or 5 mm? I do love knitting with my SilverReed and Brother machines but I'm curious about any other domestic knitting machine ^ ^ thank you for sharing!
@singlentendre Жыл бұрын
You are correct - it's a 5mm machine; not to be confused with the later Superba machines which are "5mm" but actually have a gauge of 5.1mm

Hi I have a knitking S 46504. I have no info or manual so trying to learn. It's similar to the 4500, in many ways but does have some differences. Do you know about this machine at all? It has a round container on the back for the wool(I assume) with a wire that the wool runs through. Looking for any info at all thanks
