Between the smooth action and the music, anyone other than me find this like so extremely satisfying to watch? It's so calming and the piece is so beautiful!

I have been crocheting for over 50 years. I attempted tunisian crocheting once but I had such difficulty with it curling because I crochet so tightly I gave it up (after buying all those special hooks of course lol). Since I am between projects right now I am going to try again, you have inspired me. Thank you!
@DJ-nh6wq Жыл бұрын
Good Luck! I too tried this technique a few years back and was instantly frustrated by the curling. Ironically, I’m not typically a “tight” tension stitcher so I was surprised it wasn’t working well for me. I may join you in a 2nd attempt. 😊🤞🏼 for both of us!
@suzannelaing2968 Жыл бұрын
Tunisian is very curly. Using a bigger hook than for normal crochet helps and gives a softer fabric instead of a mat too. Also once you add a border to a blanket it is less curly. Alternatively check out the double sided Tunisian crochet stitch, worked with a double ended crochet hook and you don't need a long hook either.
@twilightsdawningpalladino9997 Жыл бұрын
Blocking really helps alleviate the curling, too. I find that steam blocking is the best.
@ritawashere5787 Жыл бұрын
Me too. I hold my hook the same way I hold a pen. ✋ How do all of you hold yours? I wish I taught myself to hold it over hand, but it felt awkward & I didn't feel in "control". So many people making videos hold their hooks overhand. I wonder if I change this, my work will loosen. Oh, it also looks like they hold their work differently.
@suzannelaing2968 Жыл бұрын
@@ritawashere5787 the 2 common holds are the pen/pencil hold and the knife hold. I learned to crochet with the pencil hold which uses more wrist action, less shoulder action than the knife hold but isn't much use for wide Tunisian work because of the number of stitches on the hook.

Thank you so much. It’s taken a little practice, as I only knew traditional single/double/triple crochet before this. Made a hat recently and wanted to span out and try something else new. I have a lot of new colors and hooks, so this is lovely. I had to slow the playback speed to keep up, but that’s expected. :3 thank you, I’m subscribed now. 🎉

I MUST learn this stitch. I want a cozy blanket. and this looks like the perfect stitch to construct it over time. Square by square. It's dense, little airspace. I bought the hooks. now.....unlearn American crochet. Or rather, augment my knowledge of stitches. Hey, it's not naalbinding, not THAT hard. I have faith! First row is structure; second builds on it. Two passes, one row. I enjoy losing myself in the process. For some crochet stitches, I rarely spend much time watching my hands. it...flows. I enjoy the TEXTURE of the yarn. I especially like the idea of crocheting the new squares directly onto the others, rather than sewing them together post crochet. Thank you! I'm going to have to keep this one and watch it repeatedly with hook and yarn in hand.

I made an entire blanket with this pattern and stitch. I used 4 colors. It curled on two edges so I created a border all the way around. It looks great, it’s flat and my daughter loves it. I’m going to make another blanket and see if I can create more of a gingham look to the pattern. Love Tunisian crochet.
@lizloberg94536 ай бұрын
How big was yours? How much yarn did you need?
@JessicaLee03206 ай бұрын
@@lizloberg9453 the first one was lap blanket size 32 inches square. I used almost a full skein for each color and I used 4 colors. The one I’m working on now is going to be 4 separate pieces measuring 32 inches square as well with the same pattern then I’ll connect the 4 together with an accent color and a border so it can be a large blanket. I’ve made two squares so far. Gingham greens and gray. Using a lot of yarn in this one. I made the pattern with grid paper to follow the gingham pattern. Does this help and answer your question?
