Hi Devon, the birds on the socks are British Robins. We put them on Christmas cards but they are around all year and are said to be a loved one who has passed come to visit. 😍 Cute little birds.

Hi Devin, happy new year. In reference to the Charlotte Stone sock patterns, I just watched a wonderful interview done by Fruity Knitting, episode 150. She shows all her socks from her most recent book. Their featured designer in Designer of the World segment was a young designer called Zanete. She has an unusual approach to colorwork yokes. Sure looking forward to the retreat. Sharon Imler

Hi Devin, this message is for pattie. I too was always scared of garment knitting. I've only knitted 3 so far and it gets more comfortable with each sweater. Yes top down is best when starting garment knitting. Go for it Pattie, you'll impress yourself. My husband to did something like your husband. When we were 1st married I did a cross stitch pattern for a magazine contest. I showed it to my husband, and he said to me...What is it suppose to be? I was devastated! I wasn't going to mail it in, but I did. I didn't win but they wanted to buy my design. So it shows you that husband's don't understand us women and our creativity sometimes. Good luck Pattie, I know you can do it.

I missed the sock club ☹️😩health issues in my family However, my husband Peter is a convert to hand knitted socks. A friend who has been knitting a scarf for many years now has two pairs of socks knitted by me and loves them. Best of all my friend who doesn’t knit and dislikes hand made anything, loves her socks I knitted for her early in the year. Peter says they are so much more comfortable. Sadly he is a U.K. size 11/12. That’s huge so it takes a long time to knit socks for him. On the plus side, I love him and he is very knit worthy 😊

Go Patty you can do it. Another tip is if you have a fav sweater style or sweater (e.g raglan, circular yoke or drop shoulder)find a pattern in that style and you could also use a fav store bought as a guide as to what size.

I live with Sharpie thieves also! Whenever I find myself in the kitchen drawer where ours are stored, I inevitably find myself shouting out to anyone who can hear “Where do all the Sharpies go?” We’ve purchase huge packs of them and they just walk away! Side note, I’m still mulling over what to make with my KMP advent, but I’m really hoping to find a crochet pattern that will make it shine. I love the colors and I’ve decided I need more crochet in my life, as I do love it so and spend most of my crafting time knitting. I’ve also yet to try hand-dyed yarn on a crochet project and I’m excited to watch it come to life! I want to learn Tunisian crochet, so I’ll be starting there.

Patty top down sweaters are good because you can try it on as you go and it won’t be too big. You can do it. I am also in my 60s and within the last year have done top down sweaters for the same reason 😊😊

Ha! I have that herding cat pattern, so cute! Especially if you have striped leftovers. I laughed so hard with the "putting permanent yarn is my business so I'm comfortable with it"- that is so true! I love the way you said that. I'd love to know from a yarn dyer perspective after mentioning the Yarn Bee softness and all.. And I'm sure I know the answer, but I guess all yarns aren't created equal. I have yarn from a dyer, won't name, but it feels like the ends don't stay in and it doesn't seem to have the same quality as others. That can happen, right? All the best, Kimberly

Dyers get their bases from somewhere, and maybe this base is just not great. If you don’t like it, they might appreciate the feedback! ❤

Hi Devin, another great podcast. I really hope Patty tries another sweater. How about a vest to try at first and a top down. Want to hear more from Patty and her knitting adventures. I think I will have the sweater on my needles finished real soon after all, the sock yarn is waiting for me! Have a wonderful New Year and have a great week!

I didn’t see an email about the facebook group but I requested to join with all the correct info 🤞🏼I started my socks yesterday and am to the heel of sock one. I got 2 copies of Charlotte Stone’s book Joyful Colorwork Socks. I think this might be year of the socks for me. I was able to return one of the books and got some solid colors for this colorwork.

Joyful Colorwork Socks is an underrated sock book, in my opinion! (I’ve decided that colorwork sock knitting is not for me, but I really loved the designs in that book.) I hope you enjoy knitting them!

I really love the sweater you are wearing. It looks so good on you. I liked what you addressed a couple of months back about what looks good on a designer might not look as good on you (meaning me). I have notice that designers who look so great in their sweaters often have smaller bosoms. I have thought of using an Ace bandage to try and reduce the endowment problem, but then not sure on that one. I am not a large person, but too much landed on one place. I tend to gravitate to drop shouldered sweaters with an underarm gusset to give "extra" room in this targeted area. I wonder if I could somehow make this beautiful sweater be okay on me? or maybe it would be time for the chest girdle? Absolutely love this sweater!
@knittymcpurly15497 сағат бұрын
Good question, Trudy! You should definitely tailor sweaters to fit you. I recommend Kate Oates Perfect Tee Handbook to learn how to add darts and gussets to accommodate your body shape!

OMG! Patty’s husband! She is probably much nicer than I am when my husband says rude things to me about my knitting. Devin, if listeners wrote in stories about all the rude things husbands have said about our knitting, you would have material for YEARS. In fact, I think I will send you my story about my rude husband.

😂😂😂 “It looks like you accidentally washed it with Kleenex” in reference to tweed - this would be the contribution from my home. 😂
