Balancing reasons. You want to use PKM as a machine gun, but 7.62x54R is a very rare round used only for DMRs. You're lucky if you have like 500 of them in stash, but for a machine gun, that's nothing.

@@Sychyov there is no reason to get it wrong. Even call of duty gets it right-ish. FFS they even have the model for the RPD in game just look at owl's display in the Skadovsk. Sure they may only have had the animation for the pkm ready but there is no reason for "balance" since its damn single player game and for all intent and purposes the SVU/SVD still blows it out the water even if it did shoot x54mmR since the aim and reload time is not measured in millennia plus the HILLARIOUS cost if you want to actually keep running it

There probably are future DLCs planned, because current map also lacks of few locations which was already leaked. A whole city of Chornobyl is hidden in "clouds" on PDA map. So probably with DLCs more guns can be expected.

I've seen RPGs in old shooters a lot, but the RPG in the first stalker always stood out. It was probably the ray tracing, or the dynamic shadows, but that jet roaring and flashing bolt hurtling through space with enough force to destroy anyone was kind of awe-inspiring. They made it more realistic in the second part, but is realism necessary if it makes things dull? I'm not sure.

NPCs in Stalker ShoC used to carry unique weapons - if you want them you either slay the owner or roll red barrels at their feet for no penality. Because NPCs would randomly turn hostile in the neutral territory if you attacked neutral NPCs

@@RayleeRaven574 Well, not exactly. Technically it's possible to shoot machinegun 7.62 ammo with SVD but you don't want that because it have different bullets and so different ballistic properties. Also, if i remember correctly, SVD ammo uses special sort of powder, different from machine gun ammo. So it's not exactly interchangable IRL and in the game too, despite having the same cartrige.

I feel like damage and pen values were set completely arbitrarily with no regard for reality. Also, the number of guns could've been higher. The dual barrel pump is a win tho. Now i just need to wait 10 years for Stalker Anomaly 2, where the modders will make it into the perfect game, with bunch of new guns, working sandbox and a-life, imersive mechanics, ability to be whoever you want, and a good PDA that you can look and interact with on the go and which doesn't block the whole screen.

Every AK is in 5.45x39. Not a single 7.62 version. And the gun that is in 7.62x39 should be in 7.62x54 R, like the SVD. Surely the 7.62x39 is a more common round than 9x39. And the MP5 still has straight mags for some reason.

And we'll they also do make lil frag rockets that still don't do a big boom but change out hot copper for lots of lil metal bits.

@@KeksimusMaximus Actually Mosin would make a lot of sense to fill the niche of an early game sniper rifle. Slow reload since you have to load the rounds one by one, high power, terrible at close range. Right now we've got nothing until at least mid game where we can get our first SVD. AKM I guess is purely for its iconic status. It could have a niche of its own I suppose dealing more damage but at the cost of lower penetration and more recoil than the AK-74? And PPSH? It's iconic but I guess that's the only thing going for it as the niche it would fit into is already taken so it'd end up as nothing but a side choice that doesn't translate well into mid to late game at all due to the inability of mounting any sort of attachment to it. So uhh...
