I had the Quarter Oak at a Jim Beam event and didn't fall in love with it. But I will say Little Book 3 knocked my socks off. So good I purchased two.

Yeah I don't get the Quarter Oak. I really don't taste anything unique about it. Gotta love that Little Book!

Just goes to show how these KC store picks are such a good buy! 13-14 year is the sweet spot for me on these picks. My buddy has a 16 year which is the oldest I've seen but it a little over oaked for me. Great calls Jon your palate never ceases to amaze! Cheers!

Thanks! The store picks are the way to go! I'm just bummed we are losing those amazing older picks.

Hope to try that 12. I love the single barrel picks at 120 proof
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It wouldn't have been fair to put one of those in this shootout. It would have crushed!

KC single barrel, barrel proof...120 proof, is the only KC I buy. I need that WHAM of the higher proof
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
I think we all like a little wham! Haha For this one I just wanted to do the 100 proof bourbon lineup. The single barrel would crush these poor suckers!

Blind Jon - I really enjoyed the KC showdown. Won't be too worried about that Quarter Oak going forward. Cheers!

Yup it's a dud. Or at least my bottle is. Bummer too because I was pretty excited for a limited release Knob Creek Bourbon

killed my 12-year tonight absolutely amazing bottle maybe better than the 14-15 year SiB picks I've had. stewed raisins for days
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm super impressed with the 12 year. Such good whiskey! I feel like it and the single barrels are just different monsters. For a 100 proof sipper, there isn't much better. Cheers!

Good review. Not at all surprised by the results. i have tried these all as well and totally agree with with your assessment. Knob creek is one of my staples and the 12 yr is clearly best.
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it wasn't even close. I'm really dissappointed with the Quarter Oak. I was hoping it would at least have some unique characters but for me it just tastes young.

I was hoping that number 2 wasn't the 12 year, so I could buy that one for less $.
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Can't go wrong with any of them. While a bit overpriced that 12 is amazing!

The news is that they are bringing back the 9 year age statement this year.I guess the more barrel houses they added years back are able now to keep up with the demand for them to bring the age statement back.

That's the word on the street. Allegedly it should start hitting shelves in the next couple months.

Sorry!!! I tried but there was no way I could finish. I'll get the rest done this weekend and next week you can sit in the stands and cheer your turkey on.

@@BlindWhiskeyReviews I might not be as quick on the draw because I'll be in Cabo and I like the stand reference guessing it was intentional?

Really warming up to the Quarter Oak, have no problem with it at all.

I need to try another bottle because mine sucks!

Great review, Jon. I appreciate the conciseness of your reviews and I loved the bluegrass music. What's the name of that tune? I've not had the 12yr or the 1/4 oak but I agree that the NAS and the 9yr are pretty close. But, to me, KC yr was much better when it had the large red 9 on the label - about 8-10 years ago. Maybe it's just me but, back then it was richer and more complex than I find it to be over the last 5-6 years and so I rarely drink it anymore. The Single Barrel Reserve (especially store picks) is a different story. Never without an open bottle of that one. Cheers!
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Fred! I have one bottle of KC 9 with the big red 9 on it. I should crack it and try it next to the last version of the nine year. Maybe when the new 9 comes out I'll do a side by side if all 3!

How bout 15 year single barrel select?
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Well that would crush all of these! I kept it to the 100 proof releases. Adding in the store pick just wouldn't be fair! Haha

Blind Whiskey Reviews I just got two but my state charged me $60 when I was expecting $50! The 6 year rye was $49

im just curious why a 12 year is capped at 100 proof? also jon, any idea how the 12 year holds up face to face with the regular knob single barrel 120 proof?
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Almost all of the Knob Creek offerings are 100 proof so I would guess that's why they chose it. I have not done a side by side with the KC SiB, but if I had to guess, the single barrel would crush it. The SiB I have are 14/15 years old and at the higher proof it probably wouldn't even be close. Only one way to find out I guess!

Can you explain and share what means batch number at bottles, in my case this is the batch number at my bottle: L5262CLA 064621330. Is this a kind of Manufacturing bottle date?
@BlindWhiskeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
Those are the manufacturing codes. If you search online you can usually find what they mean. As an example, Rare Bird 101 has an a very detailed outline of what the different Wild Turkey codes mean on his website.
