Very nice production, as usual. The choices here were giving me strong old school Bjork vibes, sounds I wouldn’t normally gravitate to being used in really tasteful ways. It’s a good instrument that way, the right parameters to coax usability from sounds in need of some movement. You make it look easy! I liked that drum and bass piece, too, and your own imported house sounding stab was fun. Thanks!

Thank you! I do enjoy Bjorks music ~ especially the Vespertine and Medulla albums!

A good 80 % of all YT videos to modular stuff i don't wan't to watch till the end because so often i am not inspired by all that bleep-blop-plonk-plonk sounds to 'show of' the gear. Most of the time i catch myself not listening to you but continuing your musical ideas mentally...this is what gets my attention. Thx for the inspiration!

Man, I would love just a felt piano modular voice. That will eliminate my need of actually getting a piano and making it into more of a felt piano.

the Disting EX and NT both have the spitfire audio felt piano sample library :)

I had to send the Pianophonic back due to it crashing, and distorting (and yes, I did a ton to work it out before sending it back). I really wanted to keep it, but I was having to hide the artifacts and distortion using the reverb (which isn’t great) which caused it to lose definition. If you look online, you will find several people with the same issues. I would literally buy it again if they solve those issues.

Thankfully I didn’t have any such issues but that does sound frustrating!

How are the Arturia performed chords cabled up to module??
@McEnroe91111 күн бұрын
The knobula modules have midi in.
@TheUnperson8 күн бұрын
That’s right, MIDI in and it ships with a midi to minijack cable.

IF you had to choose, which do you like better, the Poly Cinematic, the Pianophonic, or the Chord Pilot..? Also, can all three be played polyphonic with a keyboard like the Keystep or Keystep Pro? It seems like you've answered that, just double checking.
@johnmckenzie694111 күн бұрын
Poly great for Leads, this is lovely also. Depends what you listen to and like. Demos on all of these.
@knobula_synths11 күн бұрын
Chord Pilot works with poly cinematic and pianophonic as a cv to midi chord generator/expander, it doesn’t produce sound itself. As for which is better, poly cinematic is a bit cheaper and has a vcf per voice. Pianophonic has wavetables and sample playback.

@@knobula_synths Oh my bad, I didn't read about it, I just saw it on the website. I want a polyphonic module. I just haven't taken the journey yet. The Poly Cinematic seemed really cool. Then I saw this video. The Poly Cinematic might be more my style though...

I design all my modules to compliment each other so my totally biased opinion would be to own them all! I would always recommended installing the latest firmware on any new gear as manufacturing dates vary a lot.
@alexandermontagnet336110 күн бұрын
@@knobula_synths Haha, totally understand! Which would you recommend first? Unbiased answer, of course.

Good video, but I found the audio quality of the Pianophonic was not satisfactory -- lots of distortion and clicks during the transition between the hammer and wavetable. Turn down the reverb and have a good listen. It costs too much for such poor results.

I read a review from April saying this same point...without outing you, does that sound...familiar? I'm just asking because it could have been one bad unit or the firmware got fixed etc since then. Costly to find out for ourselves thanks
@PatternMusic11 күн бұрын
@PeterJensen7 I stand by my review. We tried everything. See the MW and Knobula forum. I eventually returned the module. Knobula has since released a new firmware and some "smoothed" samples that are supposed to reduce "clipping and popping". But the responses on the Knobula forum indicate many people are still having problems. Alas, there are few dedicated piano modules on Eurorack. But Disting EX and 1010 Bitbox Micro are excellent sounding multisample players and they both include piano multisample pianos. They are both available for a similar price to Pianophonic. But very different UX.

Not OP but anecdotally have seen a few folks run into issues with this and other Knobula modules. Really like the idea of most of their modules but most of what I hear is that their software is not up to snuff
