What most don't realize about working equipment,it wears out,and while earning money per hour ,it's very hard to appropriate enough money for the eventual replacement,it's a big balancing game ,as they don't gain value,they depreciate ! Lucky that Chris is a careful operator ,and looks after his gear ,not always an easy task ,often testing .

@thatdave862 жыл бұрын
@@dansbrown1313 Yes even watching Dirt Perfect,Mike talks about the difference between his older machines and what the Hyundai digger burns, justification is sometimes difficult,these operators need multiple data from many points to be make the informed decisions to spend big money on New machines . Time is money,and that leads to the thinking that all the time must be spent running the machines,earning that illusive dollar,and the machines could run 24/7 ,it's the owner operator that can't sustain that sort of input .

Chris, I don't mean to get into your "business" but I was wondering if I could ask you a question about planning out when you expect a machine like that to be paid for by the work done with it? I had always thought of it in terms like this, machine cost X amount of dollars and will last Y number of hours before it starts needing major repairs; so, I would figure the cost of running the machine to have it completely paid for by the time of that first major repair. Would you consider the undercarriage being replaced as that major of a fix for the machine? Or more just a tracks and sprockets every X number of hours, not really a major fix but expensive enough to work into the price over life cost ratio? How many hours do you think you can get out of the excavator before you will need a new one? sorry to pick your brain, just being curious. thanks for the videos.
