Used to use a single loop when in military remember it makes your head gear up to a pound heavier

Good addition, however, the rear of the MultiCam boonie has a lot going on and with the shock cord adjustment and keeping the neck lanyard there as well it's easier to keep the place where the ends meet to the side. Thanks! ~ Bryan

Great video. Just found this while I was looking for another video. I basically used this to tighten up a boonie that was to big. It brought it down to perfect fit. So just a thought for future ref, if you're putting on cord you make want at half size bigger hat. Thanks for the video.

It actually doesn't require you to learn the doughnut first and I wouldn't recommend it. Thanks for the comment ~ Bryan

put the boonie hot on a hat block and stretch it out slightly when you do the storage sinnet to help offset the shrinkage.

ARRGH!! This worked for me, but in trying to keep the knots tight, I ended up making the hat slightly smaller. Now it feels pretty tight when I put it on. Hopefully this stretches out so I can wear it comfortably again. Unless you guys have any suggestions?

Crochet would work just as well but would go a lot faster. I could do it in about 5 minutes. Good skill set to have.

William Hall I would use para cord by removing inner white string and stitching in place of your strap

Its essentially finger crocheting. Using a size J or K crochet hook would probably be quicker.
@ksingleton101

Your telling men they are crocheting? What on earth is going on. We have men becoming stay at home Mom's learning how to make clothes and repair socks. This is to funny.
@SusieQ3
@SusieQ3 10 жыл бұрын
I don't think crocheting makes you a stay at home mom as my mom who crocheted did not stay at home. However my Vietnam veteran farther did, so either you're just an idiot or a misogynist, based on your comment. Also, I stand by my original statement, it is essentially crocheting not actually crocheting. Get a hook, however and it would be actual crocheting. Also, I have seen one of this channels knot of the week videos where it was actual crocheting so, yes men can crochet, if you're manly enough. It doesn't a man into a woman, just you a moron.

Ask your grandmother how to do a single or double crochet stitch (or the CrochetGeek on KZbin). Both pull out as you describe for quick access in an emergency and all you need is 120 seconds of practice and a $1.80 crochet hook from W@lmart. Much tighter control of style, tightness and a whole lot faster. My guess is about 8 minutes using the crochet hook. Just a thought...

well i don't understand it when they are little they have barbie, with all her accessories, and when they get older they have knitting, then us men what do we have, AR-15's with all their accessories, and Paracord knotting. Yet we get made fun of i say it is time for this sexist plauge to end.

Great idea, but I honesty don't like doing this. It tightens the size, is adds weight, and heat to the main part of your body that cools your body. you loose up to 30% of your body heat through your head. and when you wear a Boonie or sun hat is during the heat of the summer.

I just roll my 550 cord up and keep it in a pocket in my ruck or on my vest. Would hate to be on OP and have a bad guy scanning with binos notice a nice criss cross pattern dumb ass braided wrap going round my head........ Why things are seen:...shape, texture, spacing, shadow, shine, .... dumbs ass braids....., etc........ The loopholes on the field hat are for inserting foilage to aid in camouflage while on patrol or OP..... not for turning your head into a 550 chord spool. Hey, why not add a few beads or peace symbols in yellow/orange or "meat is murder" slogans as well. Maybe a nice Mickey Mouse button to....or a GLOCK patch.. This troop has too much time on his hands. Sadly camouflage is a dying art in modern armies, and that has spilled over to the many "tactical schools" which have popped up. Too much focus on urban and desert Ops (where the best camouflage is to look like anybody else at the local market). Face paint... whats that? Roll my sleeves down? HUH? Why Sarge??? .... lol We need to get back to our forgotten "green" skills..... just sayin. But then again.. the US soldier is the only one wearing fatigues which fade to an even lighter shade of grey in a forrest or jungle environment. Thats balls.
