Finally by mid to late 1902 (after the Yaa asantewa war) asante officially and formerly became a british crown colony hence part of the gold coast. Asante prowess gradually decreased as Komfo Anokye predicted. 1902 was the year that asante formerly without any dispute or claime became a region of the gold coast. All of you must stick to the truth. Knowing the truth does not make asante small but rather shows the courage and strength of asante from time past to the present. Nonetheless, the truth is that asante fell in 1874 then finally by early 20th century (1902 to be specific), asante was decimated and became a British Crown Colony, as part of the Gold Coast (Asante became an official region or province of the gold coast). Asante after 1874 and strongly after 1902 was not a state of her own as we claim (it was a colony meaning colonized). Asanteman for the sake of pride has the right to boisterously assume that asante never fell (which is good) but the facts and truth is that asante was not alone or on her own after 1874 (the empire was no more at that time - it dwindled just as Anokye prophesied). So my brother we can pride ourselves as you claim that asante was an Autonomy from the dates you specified but that is just an asante pride, the truth is otherwise. You wouldn't expect a fante chief to come and say he was defeated, how much more Opimsuo to say that. So aside the pride, know the truth also. The country is not performing well because of the exhortation of asante pride over the truth of Ghana's history. Everybody knows that asante was not an autonomy till 54, that statement is just an asante pride. My brother embrace yourself with the truth no matter how painful it is. Truth is healing, pride brings destruction. No wonder Ghana is in this state.

This man has little knowledge and understanding of Ghanaian history. The British who supported Ashanti to help them take over the entire region now Ghana, and also engaged in transit Atlantic Slave trade with them. The British had resolved to end slave trade and Asante rule. Already the Coastal regions, were Asantes bundits usually capture and sell as slaves to the Europeans, had also had enough of the act. The europeans only joined to aid the Coastal duellers to execute their task. The Ashantes had no army, they had an amalgamation of variuos Akan ans none Akans tribes who came together to form an army or bundits. Eve Anlos, were even part of the Ashanti army. British and Americans generals were also present in the Ashanti giving intelligence and support to the Ashanti army. The Segrante war was a war or battle to leberate Ghana from Asantes rule engineered previously by the former European powers.
