I think mindfreak's strat is actually the safest, it's a strat that's also used by benjy on split, put you back against the wall and dn't have to worry about your back, wait and tap head/s, move after a while to sweep or gather info.

Cause if you have two option watching 3 angle in front of you or watching 2 angle in front and your back i prefer watching 3 angle + smoke but all angle is in front of me like mindfreak does, cause someone stab on your back is hard to avoid, even when you have nice reflex you have to swing so much

people who main controllers are quiet people because they think more than the other roles in the game. it makes sense that these guys are acting (comparatively) more reclusive than the duelist players episode. every situation we are in, our smokes are applicable to create or take space and the success rate depends on your split second decision making based on the current situation and known positions of the opposing team and or your teammates. shoutout to all the controller mains out there. i see you, i hear you and i am with you.
