Know your grease fittings and grease gun attachments

Fun and informative! DId you know that the original grease fittings were designed by Oscar Zerk in the 1920s. One of his engineers improved on the original design in 1934 to create the snap-on connector. So, both types of the Model A grease fittings are Zerks. The proper descriptions of the two are ORIGINAL and MODERN. Note that's how Bert's catalog calls them. Just a bit of trivia for ya.

Years ago when i was an over the road truck driver, I had a grease gun out in the open. Someone at a truck stop asked my if i was worried about someone stealing it. Nope. Not at all. Its too much like work! And Theives don't like to Work! It was easier and more convenient for me to do my own grease job than wait in line to pay for a poor chassis lube! Good stuff, model T!! I'm a maintenance geek, and it shows! Now when the coach says, 'pump it up' you'll be grabbing a grease gun instead of a set of weights! Oh, did anyone notice the wheel weights on that nice blue wheel? High speed stuff...

I have seen the cone type fittings before, but had no idea how get grease into them. I just changed then out. Wasn't on a vehicle, it was on a old Leathe. So thank you for information. I learned something new today

My Ded went through this with me and he stressed knowing how many fittings you have to ensure you do them all. I dont here this takled about much, but it sure is important. Nice video.

Informative! I only use the pistol grip type. Lever action stink! You need 3 hands. Some zerks are press type and others threaded. They also make caps for the zerks to keep dust/debris out too. I have used many different types over the years! Biggest think is clean the zerks before you squeeze grease in. Also keep the ends of your guns covered too. Dirt and grit not your friend. Also always use a quality gun. My two cents!

I use both the pistol and lever type. When you can't get enough pressure with the convenient pistol you get out the lever. Much more force.

The grease gun that came with my Model A has a needle tip. Seems to work fine on the originals. But not on the modern type zerks.

My iPhone fell about a foot to the ground and the piece that plugs into the phone that the mics go to broke, so mad. Paul went digging through old mic that he started with so I’ll try it next video 😁💗
