I think I'm at the beginning stage, inching close to progressing. I'm getting frustrated because I can get the basic shapes and structures to an acceptable degree of accuracy, but then I struggle with how to continue from there to bring out textures, shades, forms within the main shapes, a sense of distance, all of those sorts of things. I feel ready to step beyond the "outlining shapes" stage, but it's difficult.

Is suggesting starting with simpler subject, even objects, such as trees, rather than a scene. That way you can focus on skill development first and bit, which can be a faster way to progress. All the best with it. 🧐

I have started to try and gain some knowledge about drawing beyond being self experimenting and there has not been a time when I said to myself this is stupid I’ll never achieve anything other then looking stupid and be disappointed in myself. It’s a life long affliction.😢

I like your videos & find them very helpful; though, I do have two suggestions: Instead of Advanced I would call it Working Towards Mastery. Second, I enjoy nature as much as the next person, but when talking about drawings, could you please show some drawings? When it comes to the graphic arts & mark making, I think a picture would be worth well over a thousand words. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. Not showing drawings was a deliberate choice. I only have my drawings to use, and in the end how we interpret capability is a personal decision. The drawings I would have had to choose from at what I thought were my personal representations of the three stages would not have necessarily aligned with the experiences of others with any clarity or helpfulness. Perhaps 10% of my videos don’t show any drawings or actual drawing, when I think it will be distracting or not helpful in some way. That still leaves well over 700 videos that do use them, in a helpful way, I hope. Thanks for your thoughts. 😀

I think I am in the progressing stage. Im getting faster and am not afraid to attempt new subjects but there are still some gap in knowledge and frustrations haha

Why can't you do a demonstration showing the 3 levels? Just speeches are not very interesting for some people trying to know and learn .

Because what would represent each level is so subjective I thought it would cause more problems than help. Ten different artists would draw the lines in 10 different places. In the end, it’s an assessment we each have to honestly work out ourselves. 😀

And I would have at least 600 videos where drawings are drawn or shown, so I have lots of options with those videos. 😀
