So true. It helps to try to "think" like a fish and don't over complicate things.

Y’all listen to the man. This is the most productive way for this condition it works with artificial or even if you’re drifting live bait and eels. Thanks brother for also bringing someone of the youth with you fishing.

Great tip. I'm one of those guys that fishes deep this time of the year. I'll have to give this a try. I'm usually off of the water way before sunset. I'll have to plan an afternoon trip soon and see if it works out.

I gotta add this to my bucket list man. This is my favorite technique/practice out here in CA but we don’t have the size average that y’all do.

Hey Mike, also being a surf fishing guy this is absolutely 💯. The evening is usually the best bite in the shallow water always buy a sand bar or ledge. Artificial baits, bucktails with a teaser, poppers,sp minnows and diamond jigs. Match the hatch! Great video! #seapro239 #fishon🎣🎣

Hi Mike. Can I ask you what is the maker of the warm weather or dry suit the lady in the beginning of the video is wearing? I see that all of you guys are wearing this grey and black suit. Thanks bud. And Nice vid too. Again, very informative. Too bad its 20 degrees in NY otherwise I would be out there giving these tips a go.

Great video. Can you tell me where you get your baits, soft plastics , swim baits and lures? The reason I ask because Bass Pro where I live doesn't stock large baits only smaller versions. Thanks

What about dam fishing from land ? Have some stump jumpers & some pencil and other float lures . One side of dam the water is slow moving. The other side has VERY FAST moving water and carries anything you throw in downstream very quick
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS2 жыл бұрын
I use to hit below the dams back in the day. From the bank I bounce a big swim bait from the wall all the way down. 9” swim baits. 👍👍

Awesome buddy, what about morning patterns this time of year in freshwater? What’s your thoughts?
@yotasteve2 жыл бұрын
From what I've seen recently is the bait in fish are super shallow in the mornings. Sometimes even breaking on bait but its over deep water. Just the fish and bait are up in the water column towards the surface early. I've seen this guy that has a KZbin channel fishing in Western NC pulling Alabama rigs behind planer boards that should maybe try them shallow early in the AM or late in the PM :P

I heard you mention Fresh Water ? I thought you were fishing Salt Water in all your videos ? Are these Hybrid Stripe Bass ?
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS2 жыл бұрын
I fish both fresh and salt. Freshwater lakes can have both Hybrid Stripers and real saltwater Stripers in them. I have a playlist for freshwater Stripers if you’re interested in checking it out. This video was in salt.

mike i got a question for u. how many sub 25 inch fish would u trade for a 40+ incher.
@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS2 жыл бұрын
Ha. A lot depends on the situation. If it’s me alone (or any of my main guys) I would trade countless 25” fish for a 40, but I’m never alone so I would mainly be fine with a mess of 25’s so everyone can have fun. Of course I can think of a dozen other scenarios where that would change. 😛

@@MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS we have the same battle when we are fishing if u bring people u just wanna catch fish but if it’s just the normal people on the boat i wanna catch big ones. especially when we only get 6 weeks at best in the hudson. it’s funny how there is almost two different strategies to catch fish if ur targeting numbers vs size
