Thank you Sanchit Sir for explaining these many concepts of OS in a very convenient way. I personally believe using Hindi and English in explanation must have helped larger audience in understanding these concepts. Although I have been working on Networking companies for 5+ yrs yet there used to be confusions in understanding few basic concepts and terminologies wrt OS used in our programs. But now I am confident enough with those terms like Paging, Logical Addresses, Physical Addresses, Address translations, Race conditions and Semaphores. Thank you again for sharing these videos.

A certain computation generates two arrays a and b such that a[i]=f(i) for 0 ≤ i < n and b[i]=g(a[i]) for 0 ≤ i < n. Suppose this computation is decomposed into two concurrent processes X and Y such that X computes the array a and Y computes the array b. The processes employ two binary semaphores R and S, both initialized to zero. The array a is shared by the two processes. The structures of the processes are shown below. Process X: Process Y: private i; private i; for (i=0; i < n; i++) { for (i=0; i < n; i++) { a[i] = f(i); EntryY(R, S); ExitX(R, S); b[i]=g(a[i]); } } Which one of the following represents the CORRECT implementations of ExitX and EntryY? (A) ExitX(R, S) { P(R); V(S); } EntryY (R, S) { P(S); V(R); } (B) ExitX(R, S) { V(R); V(S); } EntryY(R, S) { P(R); P(S); } (C) ExitX(R, S) { P(S); V(R); } EntryY(R, S) { V(S); P(R); } (D) ExitX(R, S) { V(R); P(S); } EntryY(R, S) { V(S); P(R); }

A QUESTION: sir i watched all of your video regarding this subject , i just have one question for which i returned to this video, sir at 6:25 you said executing process in mixed fashion creates a problem so we have to consider mutual exclusion ,OK sir my question is, why mixed fashion is a problem, means in mixed fashion both takes the original value of "a", without interfering other process value , so isn't it good that both process takes the original value of"a" instead of taking value, which is altered by other process SIR PLEASE DO REPLY Its like ramayan hoo gaye raam kon tHA PAta nee

please clarify what the correct execution order should be. let us say resources are not being shared, now at first p1 executes and we get 10, then definitely p2 will output 11 as the result, which is not correct. the definition of race condition is correct but we get inconsistent result not because of shared resources, but the order of execution. I don't think shared resource did anything wrong in the execution.

Sir..Great Explanation!! Just a small doubt..In the second case when Process P1 leaves after reading the value of a,it must store it in the general purpose registers which are shared by all the processes. So when Process P2 enters and modifies a it should actually change the content of the same GPU storing the value of a. Now when P1 enters it tries to modify the value of a by adding 1 to the same GP register storing the value of a. So final result should be 12? Where am i thinking wrong here?
