Certainly weird, and this may be a bit harsh, but I read it as translating to "I used to be one of you peons [but now I'm rich and famous, and...]" and then going "oh shit, did I just say that?!?" and backtracking. Now- that may be wrong... and at this rate I'd kind of rather he be an alien / robot / whatever with morals and a conscience, than a human without one, but given the recent news about FB data sales etc. it's not looking too promising. Anyway, what's not _that_ important is that he made this slip (especially given his current very real financial / power status)... what IS important is that he caught himself, and corrected it. Now- whether this was done truly apologetically or not, is open for debate, but I truly hope he was truly sorry for _possibly_ implying the above, NOT for the reasons of being "caught" or "looking bad" but because he truly DID feel bad about it once he realized what the hell he just said, which was an incredibly ivory-tower elitist thing to imply, if that was the implication. BUT- I don't know the man, and I don't know what goes on in his head. Either one, or neither, could be possible explanations for motivations behind the original statement, apology, etc. I'm just putting this here to add another view to the many other views of this incident; hopefully, one of us is correct about his motivation, but regardless, it would be nice to see this incident looked at from some other angles of perspective.
