Just received the amazon basics speakers. They are real stereo speakers. The sound is not perfect, but it is already more than what you would expect for 17€ speakers ! Thanks for your review ! A little detail is worth mentioning: if the speaker is powered by USB but the jack is not plugged in, the speaker will make hearable crackling noises. But it is nothing but a minor inconvenience, honestly.

hopefully someone will reply . I powered on . what is the other plug for? Will my laptop have it? I get no sound from just powering up would like it to work before i decide to return

The USB plug is for power and the 3.5 mm plug is for audio. So you plug the USB cable in a USB port of your computer and you plug the 3.5 mm cable to the audio output of your computer. It is usually colored green.
