Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 2 Review - On road on Track | KNOX
This is our review of the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 2.
Following a few tyre reviews we’ve done on the channel and as a result of people asking us to test them, I’ve spent the last 6 months riding on the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II tyres. Undoubtedly one of the most popular and best tyres for sportsbikes on the market, the Diablo Rosso Corsa 2 comes with high praise indeed!
In my time with the Diablo Rosso Corsa II tyres, I've ridden extensively on the road in all conditions and on 2 track days at Oulton Park and Donington Park. The Rosso Corsa 2 come as standard fitment on the Ducati Panigale V2 and Ducati Streetfighter V4s we tested recently on the channel. With all that experience, I now have a very good understanding of what the tyres are good at and where their limitations are. I also compare them to our previous tyre reviews of the Dunlop Sportsmart MK3 - • The best tyres for spo... and the Dunlop Sportsmart TT - • Dunlop Sportsmart TT -... .
You can see the official Pirelli website listing here - www.pirelli.co....

I picked up a set of those and the shop sent me out the door with 27psi at the rear. They stuck really well but I could actually feel a lot of deflection in the tire. I went up to 30psi and then back to 29psi. I'm happy with them at my pace.

Pirelli won't give pressure values because weather conditions will vary everywhere. If you're on a trackday in Spain, you might need 2 bar front and 2.2 rear, or lower. While on the Dutch Assen circuit, 2.3 and 2.5 would do. It's all a matter of preference and experience. Set the pressure for what it should be when warmed up. I keep a table for when I go out. Hot weather? Start with lower pressure, the tyres will get there. Colder weather? Bump the pressure a few notches. Write down what you like, what the weather was like. I have the Diablo Rosso 3 road tyres. When it's 18 to 20 degrees outside, 2.5 front, 2.9 rear. At 28 degrees, 2.2 front, 2.6 rear. Enjoy the ride!

Today I installed Rosso Corsa 2 front and rear on my z900rs cafe. On the way home, I felt that the self-steering tendency was strong, and I felt a sense of difference compared to the previously installed tires. (I used a Metzeler m9rr in front and a z8 from the same company in the back). I wondered if this unique feeling was normal, so I asked an acquaintance who had used Rosso Corsa and told me not to worry. He said that when I get used to it, I will be very comfortable in the winding. I was curious about additional reviews, so I looked for this video.

Excellent points made. Especially the part on newer riders needlessly putting on more expensive tires. I just got up to a ninja 650 from a 125 and this tire feels like a great stepping ground for newbies. And for regions with lower grip you just drop 1 or 2 psi on each and you're good to go!

This is how you do a rewiev of a tire. Good work! All other rewievs from sponserd events dosent say much, and likewise a dude riding along the countryside and rave about how grippy the tires are.. Again, good work! And I have a knox safety jacket, great stuff!

@10:32 I think the recommended track day tire pressures are determined by the motorcycle manufacturers. For example. On page 230 of the 2020 Ducati Panigale V2 owner's manual, they recommend the following: ROAD Front: 36.26psi (2.5 bar) Rear: 36.26psi (2.5 bar) TRACK Front: 33.36psi (2.3 bar) Rear: 30.45psi (2.1 bar) Page 190 - 192 even has recommendations for suspension adjustments for both road and track.

Thanks and maybe some manufacturers do, but these are aftermarket tyres. The tyre company needs to make the recommendation, just like they do with their track specific tyres. Thanks, Aaron KNOX

Brilliant stuff. Appreciate a non biased view. Bit hard for a smaller channel, but for relevance, can you do comparisons to other tyres? Trying to decide what to go for is hard, as individually all the tyres are brilliant, but its how they compare to each other that I'm interested in at the moment. Great video though and thank you

i think there's no quick and easy answer to the "tire pressure" question, and not just with these but also with other tires. basically if you're a fast enough rider, 26 could potentially be too low and 30 could have been high if you're slow to work the tires to their optimal temps.

Wonderful video. You have a wholesome review. If I had a bike dedicated for weekend and track I’d get these tires. I put in a lot of miles by daily riding so it’s as sporty as the s22 for me. Love the gixxer 750 k8/9 btw. Proper dream bike for me there!

My first set of tyres , 1995 dunlop sportmax had recommended pressures of 36/42 , for a 140kg 2 Stoke with 33 bhp. My current bike has avons, recommended pressures 36/42 for a 190kg 120 bhp bike. Tyre pressures havent changed, its all subjective. How hard you brake, throttle control, weight, power.
@KnoxArmour
@KnoxArmour 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah maybe for the road, all the same, but in fairness, tyre pressure is pretty important on track as heat generated makes the air pressure higher and then you get reduced contact patch etc. 😀

@@KnoxArmour oh absolutely. Are there any pressure figures for track day rubber? Again, it will come down to trial and error. I used to run Bridgestones with 28/30 on the road, just to get feedback and heat into them, sacrificed tyre longevity, but at least i could feel what was happening.
@beaugator

Hope you aren't reading the "max pressures" off the side of the tire. These are NOT the proper settings for most street and def not for track for most bikes.

New studio looks cool :) Because I ride a lot, and a lot of it in the wet (no tracks where I live), I've been running Angel GTs since they were introduced. I ride back roads at a brisk (but legal, obviously) pace and have been accused (unjustly) of almost reaching the top speed on my 1290 Super Duke R with those tires. I actually dished the sporty Metzelers that came with the SDR, as soon as I rode them in the rain. Perhaps I should give the Corso 2 a try!

I been ridding on my second set on my upgrade zx14r, this man is right I really enjoy them alot pear with others iv ridden. Line ups and exiting on hard execration right on the edge grip. Zero heat up-time, once one scrapped in. I was thinking to try the new s22 dunlop set as hearing there having a hard time comparing the both other then with rossi 2 fall in quicker to corners then s22, I hearing with s22 as more control rounder control feel into corners but that's what they say. I have no problems giving a great review of the rossi2.

I have them on my bike now (09 R1). The rosso IVs are awesome. They are super sticky, and are a bit more aggressive than the IIIs. They are not that great in cold weather. They come with a warning label saying do not operate under 45°F. When I first put them on I felt the bike wanting to lean. It was a strange feeling. It’s still cold up here in NJ so I know in warmer weather they will be great on the road.

Thanks Matt, that's great. I think the dunlops are probably a better overall tyre, although ive been really impressed with rosso corsa 2 in wet and cold and feel at road speeds is 2nd to none. But the rosso corsa 2 fall apart a bit on track when you go quick. If youre looking for better track performing road tyre, try the sportsmart TT which are simply awesome and not far off a race tyre performance. Hope that helps, Aaron Knox

Hi, I've personally used the Rosso Corsa 2 in weather from 0c to 30c and they've been incredibly good on the road with almost no warm up time. What I am not sure about is whether in the USA if you get exactly the same compound as the UK as sometimes tyre companies change compounds for different markets. However, on the assumption that the compound is the same, they're great for low temperatures. Thanks, Aaron KNOX
