My 120 ch.Midland 4001came with a manual for the 40 channel version that just had a sticker on it saying AM/FM 120 Channel so has no information on the -40 +40 +80 knob. I suppose from your chart that -40 must be Band C and +80 Band E?

I've just been given a midland Alan 48 plus,I've read that the radio can be opened up to cover more frequencies,does anyone know how to do it
