Back in ‘44 Mildred and I used to go to the dance hall and swing dance to this. I remember it like it was yesterday. I even lost her to Elvis “Dirty Knees” Slocum, he stole her from me to this song. I haven’t knucked and bucked while I swing since.

My great uncle Elvis “Dirty Knees” Slocum used to buck jump to this in the den every Easter. He claimed it was a celebration of life and death, the eternal cycle that we all must endure. Ironically my great great uncle William Elroy (Wet Willy) Smith knocked Thomas Wilkerson jr teeth out at the local sock hop in Backwoods Mississippi where the band debuted this classic of a gem. My uncle said that this song was the perfect harmony with that ass whipping he gave that day. He ask for it to be played at his funeral where I honored his last wishes and knocked Thomas Wilkerson VI teeth out his mouth. I miss ya unc
