Wow this just made my day. I spent 6 months living in Knutsford while working for Barclays. I wa at the Longview and got to really see the town through and through. I ate and drank at the cross keys, white bear, knutsford wine shop and several more I cant recall. Really missing it. Crazy how many shops are no longer there (Block buster, Wine shop and maybe nore and the number of shops available to lease). Id love to go again some day.

I too have popped over from Canada to visit Knutsford a few times. I also stayed at the Longview and enjoyed revisiting a village that had such impact when I was a little girl. It is a special place.

Whenever I visit my friends near Northwich, I request a trip to this lovely town. I just saw Gerrads, my favorite jeweller.

Aged 20 I left home in 1967 and have returned a few times since, when I still had family there. It is nice to see it looking so smart and sophisticated but it's not my Knutsford. I remember a lot of the shops that were there then. Ross and Wilkinson sweet shop, Hewitts toys, Lomas's records, Snelson's cake shop, Wlldgooses haberdashers, Bradleys menswear, Hitchmoughs ironmongers, Merryweather stationers, Bowens cakes and sweets, Cranford Cafe, Rawsons newsagents, King's Coffee House. The only name I recognised was Hal Whittaker. It was a brilliant childhood and youth and I have very fond memories of those times.

And knowing your ancestors walked that route soooo long ago. I'm sure there is almost nothing the same. The oldest of the old wasnt there then. Maybe there is a stone wall that stood this whole time if you knew where to look.

Quite disappointed. Walking pathways far too narrow, too many cars and where is the city centre where people can sit?....There doesn't seem to be any main area or community hub just full of expensive shops, expensive cars littering the walkway and road....not impressing me..

Knutsford is a small town, surrounded by countryside, not a city. There is the Heath and the Moor where people can sit, stroll around, walk the dog. There is also Tatton park, right at the end of King Street. The pavements are narrow and there are cars but everyone seems to manage just fine. The town is 45 minutes from Manchester city centre by train, should that be your preference.
