Howzit Everyone.
Saturday, 09 March 2024, was another day full of firsts for me.
We started off the day by catching enough bait for the whole day.
The baits that we found were some of the craziest looking little creatures I've ever seen.
The mud prawns were extremely easy to catch and loads of fun as well. If you guys give this a try, make sure you are prepared to get quite dirty. You'll see at one part in this video, ive got mud all over my face... Haha.
Second bait objective was "Pencil Bait".
Yep... "Pencil Bait". Before this day, I had never ever heard of this kind of bait.
I was super thrilled when I got my first one, and then my second right after that.
It kinda looks like a long, slender muscle. I would assume its a mollusc. Pretty weird looking critter.
The last bait objective for the day, was the all famous BLOOD WORM.
This giant worm is the closest thing to an alien I have ever seen.
Man, they are freaky...
They can be abit tough to find but, luckily we found an area with a really high concentration of them.
While I was pumping for the worms, I caught a little flounder! One of the cutest little fish I have ever seen! I felt like I had a connection with this fish man. It was so cuteeeee!
After catching loads of bait and a few nice Stump Nose and Steenbras, we headed home because the wind started howling.
But, later in the afternoon, my Dad and I went on a mission to find more shark bait with artificial lures.
On this mission, we walked along the rock beach in high tide. You will see how beautiful and clear the water is. It really felt like I was dreaming the whole time I was in Knysna.
We managed one Shad and that little Shadie... Caught us a nice Sharkie.
We got back to our jetty after our shark bait mission, where I was greeted by a Cape Seal.
Bro... you don't understand how big a Cape Seal is until you see it swim out from under your jetty.
I'm not gonna lie... I was abit bang hey... Haha! I was amazed at how fast and effortlessly it swims in the water. It was a really cool sighting.
Not long after throwing out a beautifully butterflied Shad, we had a Shark on!
These fish are insanely strong!!! I was really shocked by how strong these fish are man!
I landed another stunning Spotted Hound Shark... and with the help of an extremely Kind, Funny and Generous local man, we were able to get this beautiful fish back in the water safely.
Andre, had a night of lows and highs.
He broke off on a MONSTER fish... you will see that in the video.
But then he also managed to land a really nice, healthy Spotty.
Congrats Andre!
I cannot explain to anyone, how happy Knysna made me feel. There is something so special to me about collecting all these different baits, and then upsizing to a fish with that bait, and then catching shark with that fish. It's just amazing.
I believe I was incredibly blessed to have seen so many new, incredibly beautiful things, within the first day and a half of being in Knysna. Damn man... I LOVE KNYSNA!
I will see you next week for the last episode of the Knysna Series.
Thank you for watching!
Peace!
