Feel for Walton - having to sit on the bench watching Sunday league Goalkeeping every week..

Yes, no debate. Can't kick shot or long, no idea on positioning. Not totally sure how he's made it this far in his career, its insulting to Walton that hes not being given a chance

Aren't all goalkeepers good shot stoppers?.It's the other stuff that marks them out.Decision making, communicating, kicking.
@jc47782 күн бұрын
Anyone that was at the game Sunday could see how the rest of the team just dropped their heads and you knew Bournemouth were going to score again and that for me is the telling fact, the defence is struggling and don’t have faith in him. Time for a change or it will be too late, if it’s not already. Walton is not a bad keeper and deserves a chance now.

When you mostly only score 1 goal per match or not scoring it's really highlighted, if we are 3 up one mistake wouldn't show up as bad.are we happy to drop a quality keeper that takes so many crosses and stop certain goals a lot of the time to get rid of the mistakes,I am not sure

Enough now. Every time Muric gets the ball, I sit there wondering, «Oh, my, what is he gonna do now…?». It does not seem that he is communicating with his defenders, looks very uncomfortable on the ball, and always has that error in him. I have absolutely no idea why Walton isn’t picked, it is totally baffling to me. It is so easy to see that the defence do not trust him, and who can blame them…? Yes, he has made some great saves along the way, but come on, you don’t have to be a genius to see that this goalie is a total liability. When he rushed out of his goal against Bournemouth, I almost wrecked the telly. What on earth was he thinking…? No danger, defenders challenging for the ball, and then this travesty happens. If I had been Walton, I would have marched into McKenna’s office, and demanded an explanation. I am seriously starting to doubt McKenna’s tactics this season. Delap and Hutchinson has been, at least the last four games, totally abysmal. Why Delap was allowed to stay on the pitch for so long the last game, is beyond me. He lost the ball every time, his passing of the ball was amateur material, and Hutchinson is either hit or miss, mostly the latter. I though Burgess was a rock, Chaplin did good, and also Jack Taylor. These guys need to stay on the pitch. Concerning relegation, I think the damage has already been done. One win(!) in 15 says it all, extremely disappointing, but not entirely unexpexted. We are lacking that extra bit of quality in every department, especially our No.1! Walton in, for heaven’s sake! Take care, and greetings from Norway😊

It’s not the number of goals from Muric’s errors, it’s the nature of them (I.e. decision making rather than handling errors) that is worrying; and also the relative importance in a game (e.g. when it costs us 2 or 3 points)! Time for Walton.
@gorsefan3 күн бұрын
I see GK & CB similarly - once competitive at the level, the crucial stat is costly mistakes. Just like goals for CFs, much can be forgiven if they get the key stat right. Incidentally this is why Burgess always starts, for me.

Definitely, Walton needs a start. I think he played well against Liverpool. What harm could it do? Can't get any worse. For some reason towen don't seem to have a good track record when it comes to high value keepers. Does anyone remember Matteo Sereni?
@geoffpoole4832 күн бұрын
We need a keeper with a reputation for reliability. A few years ago Norwich struck lucky by signing Tim Krul on a free transfer when he was let go by Newcastle United. Muric is too inconsistent. Someone on here has correctly pointed out that when holding on to a 1-0 lead, a goalkeeping error can be costly. When we were scoring three or four goals on a regular basis in the past two seasons a goalkeeping error (I know Muric wasn't at the club last season) doesn't matter quite so much.
@gorsefan3 күн бұрын
Yes, no doubt, no idea why we bought him
@johnsmith-es7zk3 күн бұрын
He hasn't eliminated his errors and there is no hint of improvement in his distribution. We should at least give Walton a couple of games now.
@Peregrine-qp4fq2 күн бұрын
There are lots of good shot stoppers out there....Muric mistakes has led to 4 goals being conceded already this season....at this elite level you need a good all round keeper. Was he a last minute buy? Doesn't tick many of McK's skillset for a keeper.
@yippeeki-yay16913 күн бұрын
Andy Marshall was a good shot stopper, so was Matteo Sereni, see where im going with this?
@ginocasio2 күн бұрын
In answer to the banner question, reluctantly after Muric's brain freeze moment when we were in a winning position...Yes, time to give Walton a chance and if he proves no better by all means have a goal keeper at the top of our transfer shopping list in January.

When you are in a relegation fight and losing by small margins, the mistakes make the difference.

Anyone who saw Walton at maybe the only game he played last season, against Fulham, will remember that he wouldn't have stopped a balloon.

I couldn't respect our amazing manager more than I do but, as is pointed out here, the weak side of Muric's game was so evident for Burnley last season. Doubtless KM thought he could iron out those contours, but that is one heck of a gamble at this level and, as we approach year end, you have to say it hasn't worked out as anyone would have hoped, including the player, who I'm certain is doing all he can to eliminate those rush of blood to the head moments. With all that said, I'd be, pleasantly, surprised if Walton does get the nod at Molineux. Maybe it's just too big a game to make a major change? We'll see.

I thought we were getting an upgrade on hladky with good feet and quick distribution. This hasn't been the case at all. I can't help thinking we could have kept him if he'd been given the right contract to sign.

Kelleher from Liverpool has made one blunder and they want him replaced

It’s not just the errors that lead to goals. It’s the awful risky distribution playing out from the back and the obvious general lack of ability in reading certain situations. The whole of FPR holds their breath when he’s in possession. As do most of the TV millions I would imagine. More importantly the defence must have no confidence in him and that breeds mistakes elsewhere. Sad but must be dropped. 🤷🏻♂️
@186kloud2 күн бұрын
He wont get dropped, that is not Kieran's MO. The positives outweigh the negatives. fact is we are the second lowest scoring team in the division, so therefore the errors that have led to the goals make a huge difference. We need to be converting more chances and his errors will then be insignificant.
@Benjamin007202 күн бұрын
If we don't want to lose games by 'fine margins', we need to make changes. He needs resting. Walton must return imo.

I'm more worried about Kierans tacticle plan B ( does he have one) .Drop Muric definatelly, but then we bring on Al Hamadi,the worse striker in the whole of the Premier league ,I rate him as a decent 1st division striker.We have basically spunked 100 million on a "galactico" championship select side not up to it
@Gadders722 күн бұрын
It’s an absolute no brainer - Muric has made too many mistakes and does not warrant a place in the team… It’s time for KM to show his ruthless side as he has not had the best season either….some of his team selections and substitutions have been strange. I know he’s adapting to the PL as well and perhaps he needs an ‘experienced person’ to help him.

Suppose a stockbroker invested your money and made a profit for 95% of the year yet consistently gambles and loses your capital before you can benefit. Would you continue with them or look for a safer option while you still have money? When Town loses by a single goal due to a catastrophic error from the goalkeeper or player, it costs them over 10 million pounds. The risk analysis will say you should expect a 2% to 4% error margin as part of your strategic plan. Analyze Murics contribution; the math will show you if he is a keeper or a liability. Surviving year 1 in the premiership is difficult enough, if you have players who are consistently costing the team points the club needs to be fully aware of the business cost. Morsey has made multiple errors in the last 3 games, will he also be analyzed and judged as harshly. Data does not lie, it is a record of fact if collected correctly. From a fan perspective, I do not remember a Town goalkeeper making as many errors in such a short period of time. Some things can not be fixed on the training pitch.
