actually, set me free wasn't about his experience with SA. he said in an interview (podcast) that the song was written about the situation he's been going through the past year but after taking a step back, he also associates this song with his experience with SA. i just think it's important to know that so we don't invalidate his trauma due to the whole olivia situation.

thank you!!! so many people totally have the wrong idea about that song and because they go around spreading the wrong idea, mostly everyone assumes it's completely about his SA. but i suppose josh sent mixed signals a bit with what he specifically said in the GQ article, but it's also possible whoever wrote it omitted certain facts or information. basically this entire trilogy is (likely) about olivia, which is why it was released as a triology.
