This video was inspired by the title of a highlight video for LeBron James’ 2018 game 2 performance in Toronto. The title of the upload reads: “LeBron James’ Barrage of Insane Jumpshots vs. Toronto Raptors.” It’s a fitting headline for his performance. The midrange pulls, 1 dribble pulls, baseline fades, shoulder fake fades, half spin fades were all on display. However, LeBron showcasing such a skillful repertoire of shot-creating is somewhat of a rare sight. It’s why this “LeBronto” outing can get away with the “barrage of insane jumpshots” label.
The jumpers made by James in that game are very similar if not the same shots that Kobe Bryant created and bucketed on a nightly basis. For Kobe, midrange pull ups were routine, baseline turnarounds were expected, shoulder/half spin fakes into contested fadeaways were the norm. That was Kobe’s game. The shots defenders wanted him to take were the ones he’d trained himself to drain. This isn’t a slight at LeBron, more so a re-emphasizing of Kobe’s unique scoring arsenal, one that said “I can score anywhere, anytime, on anybody.” The “insane shots” branding standard is different for everyone. Kobe’s barrage in this video would be considered “insane” for most players, but typical for him. I settled on the less intense “nasty.”

@@airkuna i didn’t say that. Obviously winning is important, its the goal. But the team outcome shouldn’t completely devalue an individual’s performance within the game. Although a loss, Kobe’s elite shot creating repertoire was on display. Sometimes that leads to wins, sometimes not. The buckets themselves can still be appreciated either way.

Honestly you deserve far more views and subs. Not only this is some of the best YT Channels dedicated to Kobe as well as some other cool NBA Vintage Performances, but I love the fact, that you always pick up rare games, otherwise barely seen on any other videos. @@dcshow You're welcome! And totally true indeed! By knowing the context, you can better understand the performance or appreciate the greatness. For instance, one could argue that Kobe had a terrible finals series against the pistons in 04. But considering several key factors like the weak chemistry (Kobe-Shaq relationship, which was further pushed by the media as well as Karl Malone being disrespectful to his wife) or facing maybe many years in prison, his overall performance still may not have been great, but more understandable. Also another often criticized point for many is that Kobe may not have been as efficient as some other legends. Yet they should consider the fact, that Kobe was often surrounded by many players and therefore had to take some of the most difficult shots. Your description summarizes it perfectly: "I can score anywhere, anytime and on anybody" Plus during his era, most players didn't care about stats as nowadays but more so about winning. What I mean, that at the end of each quarter players used to throw the ball in case it eventually would've gone in (which most of the times never went in). And Kobe was never afraid to take any potential game-winners or shots in general. Sometimes I think, Kobe's scoring abilities are being taken for granted. The many ways in which he could score on a nightly basis are truly remarkable. Yet there are many downplaying him as a "MJ copycat". It is true that MJ was one of his biggest inspirations and he incorporated many of MJ's skills to his own, but first of all even MJ stole some moves by for instance Jerry West and secondly it is not a bad thing at all to stole some moves if they are useful to expand one's scoring arsenal and if one can refine those moves. Besides, Kobe not only learned from MJ but also from many other legends about the ins and outs of the game (f.e. the defense by Gary Payton) and all in all his basketball repertoire is still unmatched to this day or at least one of the greatest one can ever witness.

Regardless of what you stand for who is the greatest scorers or offensive player of all time you cannot deny that Kobe Bryant is the greatest shot maker no one has made the verity and difficulty of Kobe Bryant on a consistent level.

@@sweetlou2320 I do believe he’s the greatest scorer of all time. Kd is the most un-guard able. Curry is the greatest offensive player in the reg. MJ is the greatest offensive player in the post. Lebron I think is the best all around offensive player, and is the best as off career, and even at his peek you can argue he’s the best offensive player. But honestly I think any of the players I mentioned is in the conversation the goat offensive player

After watching this video, i understand why he is still the greatest player i have ever seen in my Life. Jordan is the best ever, but i didnt watch him play , but i grow up watching Kobe , really it was a huge honour watching him play because he was giving 110% everytime on the court. And the way he plays is the hardest basketball style of play i have ever Seen With Michael ( in his prime, he was even better than Michael) . If only he had gasol instead of kwame , he would have been 7 times nba champion at least , if not 8 times. No way the heat or the spurs of 2006 and 2007 would beat the lakers with a prime kobe Bryant on the team, NO WAY !!!
