He’s a student of the NBA, he could play only 8 games against you and then he’ll read you like an open book the next games. A lot of NBA players can defend, but Not too many of them are students. A student is like Kobe and MJ, he’d watch a lot of game film, study the opponents moves and calculate every move.

Like a lot of people thought Rodman was a great rebounder because of his athleticism and hustle but actually Rodman said it himself that he would watch rotations of the basketball from different players whenever they shoot and that’s how he determined exactly where the ball would go off the rim

@@NFLDRAFT2018 My high school coach was a junior college scoring champ, several times over. He taught me this trick. Players usually always play to a certain rhythm when they are trying to score, and it's always very close to the same amount of time or less. If you successfully defend them to that time limit, they will almost always look to pass the ball off. It used to work like a charm, 90% of the time when I was a high schooler/AAU. Good stuff!

ESPN invited him to do the Details series because of it. Kobe didn't have MJ level abilities, which is why he relied on study a lot more. Him sharing it is beneficial to a lot of players.

He's not strong. Several people reported he doesn't lift weights. No knock on him, he's an offensive juggernaut, but he has no physicality in his offense. This is why I give the nod to Melo in the scoring department. Melo had the right and left, deadly one dribble pull up, but also had the nasty physicality of a solid post up 4. Melo had the nastiest post work I'd ever seen

@@trell_money7789MJ never had to guard a KD and if you look up his on ball defense time he usually was had an easy assignment, Pippen would take the harder one.

Jordan had this little known player named Scottie Pippen who was assigned the best player and another little known player named Horace Grant who would be assigned the next best player and another little known player named Ron Harper that would come off the bench and defend the best player and an even more obscure player named Dennis Rodman who would defend a team’s best player. Jordan RARELY played defense against great players. Kobe demanded it.
